My husband divorced me after 21 yrs for his secretary. Are there any Catholics out there who have tried to get an annulment? Have any of you remarried?

I just finished my paperwork for one. I was dreading it, but it really helped bring closure for me, and I realized I had given all I could to my marriage. The funny thing is that I became Catholic because my ex H was, and I felt it was important we were the same religion. We had our marriage validated in the church about 5 years ago. If I hadn't done that, I wouldn't have had to do this annulment thing! That's what I get for trying to do the right thing. I'm not doing it to get remarried. My husband left me for his principal, (he was the superintendent, so lost his job)and she was one of my best friends. He left me when I was 8 months pregnant with our third. I think he made my marriage a lie by all his deceit and cheating, so I'd like that acknowledged. My paperwork came to 19 typed pages, and took about 7 hours. Not a huge deal, and well worth it, I think. I understand it may take up to a year to complete. Good luck!
WhoAmINow

Catholic here. Catholic grade school, high school, and even spent 2 years at a Catholic college.
I am one of the lucky Catholics seeking an annulment who can get one easily. Although both my [censored] and I are Catholic we did not get married in the church, nor did we later have the marriage blessed. This means we can be given one on the basis of "defect of form". All I had to do was complete a quick form with the parish priest, and give him a copy of the marriage license, divorce certificate, and both of our baptismal certificates.
My parents got an annulment based on "due discretion" which means that one of the parties could not fully understand the sacrement of marriage. This was heck on wheels to get. Mom had to go through tons of bs, and several humiliating meetings with the old fart who was the big annulment dude for the archdiocese. This was many years ago though, around 1985, so my guy said it has all changed since then.
Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes for all you annulment seekers.
Elizabeth My Confirmation name is Mary.
