Alcholic's Wife
I read your post. I lived with and alcholic husband for 11 years. Contact an Al-Anon group. Get to as many meetings as you can. Their book "One Day At A Time" is a great source of comfort even for me today. When things start getting rough I read the passage for the day and it calms me down. I am now divorced from the alcholic. I don't think the good Lord expected me to live with an abuser and I gave him everything I could. If you don't know the Serenity Prayer I have listed it below. It helps at those rough moments.
GOD, GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE,
THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN
AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.
I was an al-anon member for 6 years and still stay in contact with some of my friends from the group. I have re-married and am very happy. I contribute my sanity today to the help the group gave me then.
Good Luck to you and God Bless.
