Just curious to hear from those of you out there who have worked with the Harley's and other counselors too. Are the Harley's the best? What was your situation like when you finally decided to contact the Harley's? Did it help compared to what other counselors/people had been telling you?

The Harleys are EXCELLENT! They have a good path to follow, quite direct, don't fool around, get to the point and start working. They know that many people don't have money to waste, no chit-chatting, so they want to start now, and when you have the next counseling session, they know where they left off. Or know you have homework that you were to mail in, and have a set plan for that day. You can hear deep sympathy, empathy, etc. in their voice. They alarmed me with money during my WS's sexual affair. And yes he spent $7000.00 in a short period of time.
The path will work if both are truly committed to this marriage, and truly want to work on the marriage. My WH would never say he was committed, and we didn't even get on the first step of the path until after months and months of counseling. My WH basically was dismissed from counseling per JH. CAuse he would not discontinue the conversation with the OW, Jenn would ask him how much time, he would say 2 more weeks, and then at the end of that time he needed more time. She finally said goodbye. Nothing can be done until the OW was gone.
ANyways, she gave us to STeve, and we have not really moved too much. My WH seems to follow his own path, when Steve Harley asked WH what is his path, WH couldn't give him an answer.
Part of the goal, is total protectiveness of your spouse, no LBing, no unthoughtfulness, etc. It is really a good program, and wished it was successful for us, but as of now it isn't, maybe in the near future, maybe not.
If you can afford it, go with it, and find for yourself. They will recommend buying the books and tapes. Listen to the tapes, do the homework and you will have a good outcome.

She said the Harley's had the best counseling program out of all the ones she and her husband went to, and they had been to many.
Take care and good luck,
ANNA

I worked with Jennifer and out of 4 marriage counselors I talked with, she was far and away the best. Thinker's comments were right on. Jennifer cuts through the crap and tells you straight and if you're messing up she'll let you know. She's very tactful and she has a way of asking the right questions at the right time.
I've heard great things about Steve too but I've never talked to him.

I didn't counsel with them either, but I have noticed that the difference w/ them and other counselors..is that they don't just listen to the problems..they give you tools to make things better..they don't just say...okay this is what the problems are..and expect you to know what to do to fix the problems, if you knew that you wouldn't have the problems to begin with..
so they give you the tools to fix the problems they teach you what you need to do..they also realize they can't fix it for you..you have to do the work yourself..so if you aren't willing to put into practice the tools they give you..then no they can't help..
