the candy orgy is over.
We go from Halloween candy to Christmas goodies, to Valentine's chocolates, to Easter candy. Now we can stop the candy consumption.
Time to eat more sensibly. Fruit time will be coming soon!
(I still have Christmas candy, however. So this Easter stuff will be around for a long time.)

Throw it out! How much would you spend to lose the weight you'll gain - more than the cost of the candy.

Wow! I thought that was a bit strong.
What would I spend to lose weight. Never spent a dime. Don't plan on it. It's all in what you buy at the grocery store and how much you are willing to exercise. I'm not a Jenny Craig woman. Exercise is for the purpose of fun and exercise. Besides if you set out to go to the gym to lose weight and turn it into muscle, you might easily gain weight.
I just find it interesting that all the holidays that have food attachments (other than a single picnic) come in a 6 month period of time. I'm really not distressed over it.

I didn't mean for it to be that strong. I knew there were some weight discussions going on and thought your comment may have come from that. Also, I would not have thrown out stuff in the past, now it's not worth the trouble to keep things around that will tempt me. Besides, after trying weight watchers, I'm on the divorce diet, 15 lbs down since year end and continuing. Why is it that the knot in the stomach keeps us from eating and taking care of ourselves.

Newly - I am an ENFP personality type and may well have taken your non-personal comments more personally than was intended.
I did the separation diet. Lost 25 pounds. Then I did the divorce diet and gained 20 of them back. Both were bummers. Funny thing that stress and depression can affect you one way one time and a different way the next.
(Personally, the loss of a few pounds wouldn't hurt me. But that Easter basket full of candy will last me a long time. I'm pretty good at rationing it out to myself.)

I couldn't help but notice Cinderella that you said building muscles would make you gain weight. Women naturally have more fat than men; Mother Nature's way of making sure we can carry a baby during a famine. As women age, we lose muscle mass; hence saggy arms, thighs, and a falling behind...muscles also increase our metabolism, so the more muscle mass you build, the more calories you burn. Another reason why older women have a tendency to gain weight so easily. It is recommended that manaupausal women lift weights to rebuild muscle mass...it also helps fight against osteoprosis. You don't need to go to a gym either; a few sets of hand weights a few days a week will make a big difference...you will feel better too. Today's princesses work out to stay strong.

I eat all the candy I want. I don't need to lift weights at the gym or at home. I am slender and firm and healthy at age fortysomething.
My secret??
Be a single parent to a large family.
Be abandoned by your cheating husband after childbirth with four darling youngsters.
Keep having lots of pregnancies and busy babies. Breastfeed them for a couple of years; continuously lift & carry them around every day like the 20-pound weights they are; lug 12 full laundry baskets up & down the steps every week; race around supervising and tidying up after a risk-to-his-own-life, exploratory, "trashing/dumping" two-year-old; chase down the ornery six-year-old who just hit the cat; aerobically march up & down the steps to the lower-level rec room to monitor the TV smut viewed by the older kids; and do all housework, maintenance and yard work yourself!
Calories Expended:
Breastfeeding- 500cal/day High-activity-level work- 1000cal/day Basic metabolism- 900cal/day
Total Drain: 2400cal/day
Caloric Intake: Healthy Balanced Diet- 1500 cal/day Loss of Appetite from Separation/Divorce/Depression/Stress- (subtract 500cal/day)
Total Caloric Credit Total: 1500cal/day!! Can eat extra 1500cal/day!!
Bring on the candy!! Easter, Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, anytime!! Just make sure you have a good dentist.

Good for you! I would wager that most of us aren't naturally slender and firm at fortysomething no matter how many kids and laundry we cart around. I do that, work 40 plus hours a week, keep a house, do yard work, and still have to watch what I eat. And I don't even like candy.

Well - I can't speak for everyone, but the Divorce Diet is a surefire way to lose weight!!! I lost 40 lbs within 4 months (couldn't eat). Plus having the stress of an emotional abusive H was probably what caused me to gain weight in the first place. I am 46 years young, look better than I have in years, feel better and am healthier. I have put back on about 10 lbs, but that's no big deal. I wear short skirts, etc. that I wouldn't have been caught dead in before. Interestingly enough, OW put on the 40 lbs I lost after she had been involved with my H for about a year. I hear she has gained even more weight. Must be something about him that makes women fat!! I still avoid the candy, though......

It's too bad though that after a while the weight loss benefit of breastfeeding sneaks away into the night. My little one is 4, and although she still likes her nursies, she doesn't melt my pounds away anymore.
The best diet ever is the Husband On Life Support Diet. The Infidelity Weight Loss Program (IWLP) was nice, and the Divorce Your Husband and Your Pounds (DYHAYP) was also fufilling, but above all, the HOLSD worked the most for me.
I dropped about 50 pounds in 10 weeks. The only thing is I wouldn't recommend that diet. It works, but tends to be a bit stressful.
Cindy, I get your point. Yes, this house has been filled with orange and black, then green and red, then red and pink, and now the pastels are fading into my tummy. If only I can get all those cavities filled before it starts all over again!
Elizabeth

NO MEN ALLOWED ON THIS POST!
MEN STAY OUT!
Happy Mac,
Let's be clear... I said slender; not skinny...firm; not taut... and healthy; not vivacious!
My toddler is currently breastfeeding...I have continuously been either pregnant or lactating for the last straight 13 years.
I love my kids for who they are; but my metabolism loves them for what they drain! Calorie Drainos! My kids are little Slenderizing Drainos! They unclogged my fat depots; converting 9cal/gram of fat into the energy to nurture them and manage (fight off) bad dad...
Oh, also, multiparous breasts and abdomens don't count in slender & firm. Saggy boobs and bellies mean... Prolific Abundant Madonna Sex Goddess! (Sexy Middle-Ager Babes fudge it with push-up Wonderbra & Playtex girdle when they want to WOW 'em).
Just to be REALLLY clear... my abdomen resembles Yoda's face loosely draped over a Santa bowlful of jelly with a Frankenstein surgical incision smiley mouth... A Star Wars Christmas Horror Show! My conjoined cast of characters gut is my proud victory trophy earned from mortal battle with the OB/GYN after four (darn-it), four, rescue Caesareans. Yes, I gave love 'til it hurt!
I hear there is a procedure called abdominoplasty...tummy tuck... for stretched bellies... anyone had one? Never mind... I keep forgetting I don't have a sex partner hubby to arouse anymore. Why go looking for trouble?
[ April 02, 2002: Message edited by: Voice of Reason ]

Voice of Reason....God Bless you...13 years! I have two boys, breast fed both of them and then called it quits. The ex was never much help...he was pretty much as demanding as a toddler.
I admit...the divorce diet does work well...I could eat whatever I wanted and kept losing weight...just like when breast feeding. One day, ten of the 20 pounds I lost decided to come back...retroactive. Oh well. There is no way I'm having another baby...so I guess I will just have to deal with weights and rabbit food.
