I live in California. I have virtually no money to retain an attorney. Should I decide to take this course of action, is there any way for me to get legal assistence that won't bankrupt me? Will an Atty work with a lien against a home as a retainer for services? What alternatives do I have? <p>This is her 3rd marriage, my 2nd.
The house is in both names on the deed and title, one car is registered to her, but the loan is in my name. The other car is totally paid for and in my name. She has 3 daughters from previous marriage, ages 13,15,16. I have a 401k plan at work. She works minimum wage or slightly higher type of jobs. Her ex-H (the real father) is a non-working bum with a felony for drug possession but lives with his mom and has a court order to pay support but of course doesn't. Can I still be tagged with Ch Sup for them? <p>I have been at this particular job for 1.5 years.
Will I lose everything? Does she get half of my 401k for ever til I retire? Or just the current value at the time of the divorce? What damages am I looking at here? Alimony I am almost sure of, but the rest I don't know.<p>[ April 19, 2002: Message edited by: Blind Sided ]</p>
