My lawyer sent me some papers over yesterday that needed signing regarding my x's share of my/our pension. We've been divorced for over 2 yrs and she is just getting around to it.
So I signed them and dropped them off and when my l asked if everything was okay, I said she had signed the wrong name, using my last name.
He said it didn't really matter since the document was regarding our divorce.
Then he told me that she told him she is going back to my name. I guess that will benefit the kids. Just last nite, my d was getting her mother a gift certificate for Mother's Day and the clerk asked what name would go on it. My d looked at me and didn't know what to say. I said she is still married and would have to use her married name.
I guess that won't be a problem now.

That sure seems freaky to me. Imagine being 14 or so and wondering what your mother's last name is.

Just wanted to say that it could have been done for convenience, or to make things easier for the kids ... my last name has never been the same as my kids' last name, however I wish I had a nickel for every time I was addressed as Mrs. My-kids-last-name.
