We are just getting started in softball around these parts and my two oldest girls are playing in the town that my X is living in, I am the assistant coach of that team.
Well I signed our youngest up to play in my town and the director called me up last night and asked if I would coach. Then she kind of stumbled around saying she needed to ask me a question. She said we've had several requests that your X NOT help out in any way, is that a problem?
I laughed....
Just thought I'd share my little funny for the day.

Lord, that IS funny! Did you laugh out loud into the phone? I would have! (But then I'm not known for keeping a poker face)

That's cute. I wish I had a nickel for every time someone learns I left XH and tells me "GOOD. I never liked him!"

Actually, I did laugh out loud on the phone for just a moment. I pretty much know all the children and I know which parents are probably concerned about my X as a coach. The X has done some coaching and she does not work well at all with any child that struggles. She has the "play to win" at all costs attitude.
I tend to judge success in coaching by the gleam in a childs eye and the smile on their face, especially when they make a play that they didn't expect to.

My X got shut out of the soccer coaching, without my knowledge or assistance, and she must have blamed me, because my d blamed me for it as soon as she saw me. . .
and I had nothing to do with it. . . X then told me that she would be an assistant. . . and I said, "funny, you aren't on the official list."
no response, and no assistant coaching. . .
hmmmm, must have been that angry outburst at me on the field in front of all the parents. . . for not arriving on time, because d was sick the night before, and I wasn't sure she could play, as WE had discussed. . . and so she was marginal, but played after being a few minutes late. . . the AO came when someone asked her "Where is d?" and she didn't know how to answer the question. . . so she took it out on me on the field after the game.
yup, once an alien, always an alien . . .
wiftty
