Well I haven't seen the movie or read anything about but the title and the previews are enough to cringe over.

I know that not one I want to see either. I wonder if our x's will go?
Before we were divorced, my x went to see "Eyes Wide Shut" with om. SHe left our d's allstar game to go see it.
She was so proud of om, because she said the movie was awful and he went and got their money back.

I liked it... I thought it did a great job portraying how infidelity absolutely ruins people's lives, lives that were otherwise perfectly normal and happy... Plus the acting of both the BS and WS was perfect... Uncanny, actually.
AGG

Haven't seen the movie yet, but if it does show how so many lives can be devastated then it gets my vote. An affair takes on a rippling effect...spouse, children, in-laws, sis'and brothers, friends all torn apart because ONE person decided to "see if the grass is greener". So many lives forever changed and usually not for the best. I hope anyone "thinking" about it will think again...that is the making of a good movie, ones that show you what may happen"IF" you decided to take that step....

I saw it tonight and I must say that I was impressed that it was not the usual Hollywood fare where one spouse is made out to be the villain that justified the other spouses's A.
I was also impressed with a scene in which a woman friend of the main female character, sadly acknowledges a past A and tells her and another woman(who states she would love to have an A with the OM in the movie) that there was nothing good that came about it and that if there was something she could undo in her life, it would be her A.
The movie also shows why it is almost always a bad idea for a BS to contact the OP.
The only complaint I had with the movie is in the way it ends.
Joe

I saw the movie last week and must say, as a former WS, Diane Lane's portrayal of the cheating wife was very believable. Her face alone did a superb job of betraying all the conflicting emotions she was experiencing, <particularly the train scene where she was reflecting upon her first encounter with the OM>. The subsequent scene where she attacks the OM and his lover is further evidence of the irrational behavior that 'the fog' can induce, in an otherwise "normal person."
I think it might be interesting to see if her addiction to the OM could have ended so 'cold turkey" if her husband didn't intervene and make continuing it an impossibility.
I was pleased with the ending. It might have been a diservice to a very complex story to attempt to wrap it all up in one definitive scene.
To those whose lives have been touched by adultery and can still stomach the story contents, I highly reccomend the movie. It will make you think...and shudder...and sigh...

My sister and I went to see it the other day. Before it started, my sister looked over at me and asked if I'd be okay.
I'd have to agree Agoodguy. I soooo related with Richard Gere's character and the fact that their life together was normal and happy.
It stirred up my emotions, that is for sure. My sister and chatted about it after. One thing that I was glad it protrayed was the way their home life was good, normal, loving. Just like mine once was. One of my issues was that everyone would think that I, as a wife, was not good. Which we all know, is not the way it is when it comes to adultery.
I would recommend it.
