X has to have son on his life insurance policy as beneficiary Im the trustee on them for our son, try to get X life policy name & policy number listed on the D-papers I didnt. Im not sure X remove his dads name on his policy. a friend has on her D-papers that X will pay $250 for each child school cloths at the start of each school year they have to wear school uniforms. Mine has X has to pay half of private school cost each month, make sure x pays you not the school Im having trouble with X over that one. if he is late Im paying late fee. X has to cover any cost that his health insurance plan doesnt pay for our son, like Drs co-pays & RX. Spouses if you dont have health insurance get X to pay COBRA you keep the same coverage but make sure X pays for it, that is costing my X $450 a month for 18 months.

I just came from the lawyer today.
Sounds like I did ok after hearing some of your stories!!
I did get STBX to keep his military life ins with me and kids only listed. His extra ins policy has kids only name on it and may be liquedated at YD 21st birthday and divided by 4 him and 3 kids.
He is also to pay my life ins til YD is 21 on me.
Military retirement, there was 7 pages that my lawyer added, pretty standard stuff though, I will get 50% of his retirement with COLA. And that is seperate from any alimony that I get.
It's still rough when you are not wanting to be divorced!!!
Dawn

Another thanks for all of you who have shared. My son is getting divorced now and your info has given me ideas of what should be included when I file the final decree. (I'm not a lawyer and I don't play one on tv but I have 'done my own' divorce --it's much cheaper (free, in fact ) if the parties can agree).

quote:
In CA child support is payed until the child is 18. However, at age 13 the child can choose to live with mom or dad. Whomever is chosen, if that parent was paying child support to the other, the payments stop.

You wouldn't happen to have any specific verbage on this, would you? I want my grandson to be able to live with his dad if he wants to later on and my son to be able to collect cs from xw.

I wanted Christmas Eve night and Christmas morning every year - and I got it. Of course, it cost me noon Thanksgiving day through 6 pm the following Sunday. That was ok.
We have joint legal custody. I have primary care and the right to make all major decisions concerning the children provided I keep him informed.
I can move within my county and the adjacent ones. Beyond that, I have to have court permission. However, I think this does not preclude me from enrolling them in boarding school at a distance and then petitioning the court to allow me to move closer so that they could reside at home rather than on campus.
