I wonder if anyone has a estimate as to how much an uncontested divorce in Illinois would cost. How long will it take, and what kind of cost should I estimate for moving and starting over. (security deposits, movers etc). I hope I'm just wasting my time with this stuff, but I am starting to think I should get some information.

Check under 'Attorneys' in your Ameritech yellow pages---many of them here in Dallas say '$500 for uncontested'...etc.

I filed and did my own divorce here in Dallas and it did not cost a cent. If you feel like you MIGHT want to go that route, you can check out a book called 'how to do your own divorce in ..." your state. Amazon carries them.

I did mine with three kids but no real property and it went very smoothly. I guess my x was just glad to be rid of me! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Mark, I too live in IL and heard that it can cost as little as $700. But, I went to my county courthouse to get "forms" and I think if you knew what to do you could file yourself.

Cheers,
Nicole

Mark,

Here is a link to divorce source. It's an interesting web site.

EquityCourt looked interesting. I even spoke to them. They in FL and AZ.

You may also want to search the internet. There are sites that sell divorce packets.
