Having been on antidepressants now for 6 months and still not feeling any great relief from them (they have helped ease over major bumps, but I'm not feeling great) I had decided that I would go to a psychotherapist for awhile for help. But our new health insurance doesn't pay for counseling service and H says that the fees of over $100 per session are more than we can afford and that I can't go. So, the question is - should I go anyway and tell H that we will have to cut back on expenses or increase debt for awhile? I have no family members that I can talk our marital problems over with and feel very isolated. Thanks for the replies........

Counseling is a big help. But there are many options. 1. Check with your local women's crisis center. Many offer counseling for free regardless of income, or offer a sliding scale. 2. Counseling may be covered under your medical plan if it is a medical diagnosis - such as depression. 3. If the depression is caused by marital problems, find a support group to help. Check with your local hospital for suggestions.
I hope this helps. Both my individual counseling and support group have helped me immensely. Maybe you need to be on a different med?
