rn,

I love 'I told You so" and there are two more...one by steve wariner and one by Alan Jackson --both are about 'i'll change tomorrow'-a familiar refrain...except my x didn't even think he had to change anything...all the problems were mine.

Please refer to the song title in my first post on this thread.

Boy, oldies in here.

Mine would be from Brooks & Dunn, not sure of the exact title, but i think it is: You better kiss me, you're gonna miss me when I'm gone.

W's would have to be if I picked, from Cinderella: Dont know what you got (till it's gone)

Hi all,

I'm Khyra's H, saw one of the songs she posted on this thread. Thought I'd post the rest of the lyrics

Sawyer Brown
All These Years

She likes adventure with security
And more than one man can provide
She planned adventure feeling sure that he
Would not be home 'till after five
He turned on the lights and turned it off again
And said the one thing he could say

All these years
Where have I been
I've been down the road to work and home again
But I'm still here
And until I'm gone
Don't you rub it in too hard that I've been wrong
All these years

She said, "You're not the man you used to be"
He said, "Neither is this guy"
She said, "There's some things you refuse to see
But I guess sometimes so do I"
She made no excuse why she was lying there
She said the one thing she could say

All these years
What have I done
I've made your supper and your daughter and your son
Still I'm here
And still confused
But I can finally see how much I stand to lose
All these years

Still I'm here
And so confused
But I can finally see how much I stand to lose
All these years

Last week I would've said:Pet Shop Boys -"You are always on my mind".Now I would have to agree with Linkin Park-In the End.
Posting lyrics to "Always on my mind" for future references.
=============
Maybe I didn't treat you quite as good as I should
Maybe I didn't love you quite as often as I could
Little things I should've said and done, I never took the time
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Maybe I didn't hold you all those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I never told you, I'm so happy that you're mine
If I made you feel second best, I'm so sorry, I was blind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give me one more chance to keep you satisfied
Satisfied

Little things I should've said and done, I never took the time
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give me one more chance to keep you satisfied

You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Maybe I didn't treat you quite as good as I should
Maybe I didn't love you quite as often as I could
Maybe I didn't hold you all those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I never told you, I'm so happy that you're mine

(Maybe I didn't love you...)

Frankly,

You know that I have a laundry list of songs. If just depends on the time period. I don't actually have one for right now, but I went through a bunch of them.

BenFolds,

"Song for the Dumped" is a GREAT song! A guy at work went through a similar situation with his girlfriend. We made a CD with all of our favorite anti-relationship songs on it. The rule was the song had to be from the perspective of an angry, moving on, jilted lover. The other one I liked was by Toni, Tony, Tone, "My ex-girlfriend (is a whore)", lol. We are currently working on volume two of the set.

I thought of another song....

J. Geils Band, "Love Stinks" I can't think of all the lyrics, but this is the opening....

You love her
But she loves him
He loves somebody else
You just can't win
And so it goes
'Til the day you die
This thing called love
It's gonna make you cry

This song is going to be on volume two. If anyone wants the complete play list, let me know.

Great Thread!

What immediately came to my mind was Tom Petty's You Got Lucky. Even though it was written from a guy's perspective, I switch it to apply to my H where he says "Girl".

You Got Lucky

You better watch what you say.
You better watch what you do to me.
Don't get carried away.
Girl if you can do better than me,
Go
Yeah go.
But remember
Good Love is hard to find
Good love is hard to find
You got lucky babe
You got lucky babe
When I found you

You put a hand on my cheek
And you turned your eyes away
If you don't feel complete
If I don't take you all of the way
Then go
Yeah go
But remember
CHORUS
Etc.

After thinking of that song several tom Petty songs came to mind, such as

Breakdown
I Need to Know
The Waiting (even though I can't understand all the lyrics, the chorus ran through my head all during plan A and B.)

Don't Come Around Here No More
I Won't Back Down

Basically most of their Greatest Hits album.

Some other good ones are

Annie Lennox, Why
Tina Turner, I Don't Want to Fight

For those of you Gloria Gainer fans who like I Will survive, you should hear Cake's version it has REAL ATTITUDE!!

I have two right now. One is a Linkin Park song - Pushing Me Away

I've lied to you
The same way that I always do
This is the last smile
That I'll fake for the sake of being with you

(Everything falls apart
Even the people who never frown
Eventually break down)
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
(Everything has to end
You'll soon find we're out of time
To watch it all unwind)
The sacrifice is never knowing

Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see your testing me pushes me away
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see your testing me pushes me away

I've tried like you
To do everything you wanted too
This is the last time
I'll take the blame for the sake of being with you

(Everything falls apart
Even the people who never frown
Eventually break down)
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
(Everything has to end
You'll soon find we're out of time
To watch it all unwind)
The sacrifice is never knowing

Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see your testing me pushes me away
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see your testing me pushes me away
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see your testing me pushes me away
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see your testing me pushes me away
Pushes me away

The other is by a band called Nickleback - How You Remind Me

"How You Remind Me"

Never made it as a wise man
I couldn't cut it as a poor man stealin'
Tired of livin' like a blind man
I'm sick inside without a sense of feelin
And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am

It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'
I've been wrong, I've been down
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream "Are we having fun yet?"
Yet?, Yet?, Yet?, no no

It's not like you didn't know that
I said I love you and I swear I still do
It must have been so bad
Cause living with me must have damn near killed you
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am

It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'
I've been wrong, I've been down
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream "Are we having fun yet?"
Yet?, Yet?, Yet?, no no

Never made is as a wise man
I couldn't cut it as a poor man stealing
And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am

It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'
I've been wrong, I've been down
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream "Are we having fun yet?"
Yet?, Yet?, Yet?, no no

I was alright for a while
I could smile, I could smile
But then I saw you last night
You held my hand so tight
when you stopped to say hello
And, though you wished me well
You couldn't tell

That I'd been cryyyyyying
Over you
Crying over you
And you, now you're gone
and left me standing all alone
and crying.

I thought that I was over you
But it's true, so true,
That I love you more
than I did before
Now, darlin', what should I do?
For you don't love me
And I'll always be

Cryyyyyying over you
Crying over

Crying by Roy Orbison/Don McLean...another heartbreaker.

"Tainted Love"

Sometimes I feel I've got to
Run away I've got to
Get away
From the pain that you drive into the heart of me
The love we share
Seems to go nowhere
I've lost my lights
I toss and turn I can't sleep at night

Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Tainted love
Tainted love

Now I know I've got to
Run away I've got to
Get away
You don't really want any more from me
To make things right
You need someone to hold you tight
You think love is to pray
But I'm sorry I don't pray that way

Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Tainted love
Tainted love

Don't touch me please
I cannot stand the way you tease
I love you though you hurt me so
Now I'm going to pack my things and go
Touch me baby, tainted love
Touch me baby, tainted love
Touch me baby, tainted love

Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Tainted love
Tainted love
Tainted love

And did anybody get Chris Isaack "Somebody's Crying"? Gad, there are too many broken-hearted songs out there and we've barely scratched the surface of country music. I'm gonna go sit in my pick up truck with my dog and drink a couple long--neck bottles and dream of getting a job.

Okay, this one probably won't be popular with a lot of you, but sex is the only affection I ever get/got. He just filed last week, and neither one of has cheated on the other. Pity party time for me!

Sometimes when we touch
the honesty's too much
add I have to close my eyes and hide

I wanna hold you 'till I die
'till we both break down and cry
I wanna hold you 'till the fear in me subsides

I don't recall who did this one...from the mid-80's, I think? Anyone know?

BW,

That would be Dan Hill. And the name of the song is "Sometimes when we touch" I think it was more around the late 70's or early 80's rather than the middle 80's though. He wrote the song with another guy by the name of Barry Mann.

Yeah, I know! To much information! Sorry!

Well, my stbx and his attorney and myself and my 2 attorneys met for the first time today. Interrogatories against stbx. The song that comes to my mind is Liar, Liar. My attornies caught him in quite a few lies, and it hurt like heck, but now I know the real truth about Sad N Lonely. May God put him out of his misery.

Sometimes it is "You Win Again" by Mike Ness.

Most of the times it is "Don't Look Twice" also by Mike Ness.

A song to describe my STBX is "Girl in Blue" by the Reverend Horton Heat.

Neko Case also has some great songs about lost love.

Cheers!

Frankly,

I hate the "Tainted Love" song! All those whiny mid 80s Duran Duran wanna be bands, ugh. I was listening to Judas Priest and AC/DC back then, lol. Here's the play list for our two CDs.

Volume 1:

Cowboy Mouth - Let me hold it open -- this is my all-time favorite, angry, but not bitter
Limp Bizkit - Rearranged
Tracy Bohnam - Jumpin bean -- great song for the women
Dido - Don't think of me
Jodeci - Lately
Cake - I will survive -- a cover of the Gloria Gaynor song, really good
Fiona Apple - Get gone
Ginuwine - What's so different
Bob Marley - No woman, no cry -- not sure if this one qualifies, but it's a great song
No Doubt - Don't speak -- does anyone else thing Gwen Stefani is a hottie?
Jeff Buckley - Last goodbye
Dido - Here with me
Jo Dee Messina - Bye bye baby -- a country song, but still good
Jimmy - If you want to be happy
Eric Benet - When you think of me

Vol 2

Ben Folds Five - Song for the dumped -- all the men should download this song
Save Ferris - I'm not crying for you
Bodeans - Misery -- a very angry song
Cardigans - Lovefool (remix)
DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince - Girls are nothing but trouble -- too much fun, lol
Godsmack - Whatever
Guns n Roses - Used to love her (acoustic) -- Axl introduced this as "not a real song but maybe how you feel sometimes"
J Giels Band - Love stinks
Jamiroquai - King for a day
Linkin Park - One step closer
Tony Toni Tone - My exgirlfriend
Weird Al Yankovic - One more minute -- it wouldn't be complete without a Weird Al song

We just need to come up with a couple more songs and we'll have the second CD completed. Another song I listened to a lot was The Clash, "Should I Stay or Should I Go".

Two more break-up songs from Ben Folds, just because I'm in the mood. This one's called "Smoke":

Leaf by leaf, page by page
Throw this book away
All the sadness, all the rage
Throw this book away

Rip out the binding and tear the glue
All of the sadness we never even knew
We had it all along
Now it's... smoke.

The things we've written in it
Never really happened
All of the people come and gone
Never really lived
All the people come have gone
No one to forgive... smoke.

We will not write a new one
There will never be another one
Another one, another one

Here's an evening dark with shame
Throw it on the fire
Here's the time I took the blame
Throw it on the fire

Here's the time we didn't speak
It seemed for years and years, and
Here's a secret, no one will ever know
The reasons for the tears
They are... smoke.

Where do all the secrets live?
They travel in the air
You can smell them when they burn
They travel...

Those who say the past is not dead
Stop and smell the smoke
You keep on saying the past is not dead
Come and smell the smoke
You keep saying the past is not even past
You keep saying...

We are smoke.

And this one's called "Evaporated":

What I've kept with me
And what I've thrown away
And where the hell I've ended up
On this glary, random day
Were the things I really cared about
Just left along the way
For being too pent up and proud

Woke up way too late
Feeling hung over and old
And the sun was shining bright
As I walked barefoot down the road
Started thinking 'bout my old man
It seems that all men
Wanna get into a car and go...
Anywhere

Chorus:
Here I stand
Sad and free
I can't cry
And I can't see
What I've done
Oh God, what have I done?

Don't you know I'm numb, man
No, I can't feel a thing at all
'Cause it's all smiles and business these days
And I'm indifferent to the loss
I've faith that there's a soul somewhere
Who's leading me around...
I wonder if she knows which way is down?

[Chorus]

I poured my heart out
I poured my heart out
It evaporated... see?

Blind man on a canyon's edge
Of a panoramic scene
Or maybe I'm a kite that's flying high and random
Dangling a string
Or slumped over in a vacant room
Head on a stranger's knee
I'm sure back home they think I've lost my mind...

[Chorus]

Okay, I lied... one more Ben Folds break-up song. I love this one, even though I don't think the kind of break-up described in this song happens very much in the real world. It's called "Selfless, Cold and Composed"...

I said what you wanted to hear
And what I wanted to say
So I will take it back

Are all of the dishes intact?
Let them be broken
Broken

Chorus:
It's easy to be
Easy and free
When it doesn't mean anything
You remain selfless, cold and composed.

You've done me no favor to call and be nice
Telling me I can take anything I like
You don't owe me to be so polite
You've done no wrong
You've done no wrong
Get out of my sight

[Chorus]

Come on baby, now throw me a right to the chin
Don't just stare like you never cared
I know you did
But you just smiled
Like a bank teller, blankly telling me
"Have a nice life"

Come on baby, and throw me a right to the chin
Just one sign that would show me
That you give a s***
But you just smiled politely
And I grow weaker

And I said what you wanted to hear
And what I wanted to say
So I will take it back

It's easy to be
Easy and free
When it doesn't mean anything
When it doesn't mean anything
You can take anything
You can take anything

So selfless, cold and composed.
