BenFolds,

"Song for the Dumped" is a GREAT song!

Glad you agree! I think you really need to get a recording of "Song for the Dumped" performed live in order to get the full effect. Ben Folds and his former bandmates did so much more with this song when they were on stage... just the sound of Ben slamming his piano stool onto the keyboard at the end of the song really helps bring out the anger the song's trying to convey. Then there's the scary sound of a microphone being scraped across the piano wires... has to be heard to be believed.

Yup, another breakup song from me. No, this one's not by Ben Folds. It's one I've been listening to a lot lately from a not very well known band called Ookla The Mok. They have a real sense of fun that shows through even in a song like this one... it's called "Conquest", from their album "Smell No Evil".

(Just so you'll know when the name appears in the song... Ping is the name of a monkey that appears in other songs on this CD. A monkey named Pong is also featured.)

I've been saving all your things
Since you left when I lost Ping
Against the hope the phone might ring
And it might happen to be you
Even just to tell me where to send them to

Textbooks, knick knacks
T-shirts, dish rack
Ticket stubs from the zoo
CDs, flatware
TV, cat hair
I was thinking of you

They say if you love something, just let it go
But that doesn't mean it's not hard
You said you were leaving and I held the door
Look where that's got me so far
Que sera

But I helped you pack and I helped you save face
I respected your wishes, I respected your space
You said it's all very simple
But everything's so complicated

I wish we could go back to the
Dawn of the day before the time
Of the land the lost dinosaurs
Forgot to remember

And if I were a brave man
Some primitive cave man
I'd scream and rage to show you I care
But I've gotta act my own age
We don't live in the Stone Age
Can't drag you away by the hair

You won't let me fight for you
But pacifism bores you
Now where's that supposed to leave me?
You can do anything you want to
It won't come back to haunt you
I'm civilized... how like me
To just let you be
Set you free
You're free

I just watched the Late Show and Etta James sang "I feel like sugar on the floor." It sure describes how *I* feel. Great song, incredible singer. As for the way I feel about my H... "Dazed and confused" comes to mind first.

when i first found out about my wife's affair
it was
Foolish Games by Jewel

You took your coat off and stood in the rain,
You were always crazy like that
I watched from my window,
Always felt I was outside looking in on you
You were always the mysterious one
With dark eyes and careless hair,
You were fashionably sensitive, but too cool to care
Then you stood in my doorway, with nothing to say
Besides some comment on the weather
Well in case you failed to notice,
In case you failed to see,
This is my heart bleeding before you,
This is me down on my knees

Chorus:
These foolish games are tearing me apart
Your thoughtless words are breaking my heart
You're breaking my heart

You were always brilliant in the morning
Smoking your cigarettes, talking over coffee
Your philosophies on art, Baroque moved you,
You loved Mozart and you'd speak of your loved ones
As I clumsily strummed my guitar
You'd teach me of honest things
Things that were daring, things that were clean
Things that knew what an honest dollar did mean.
So I hid my soiled hands behind my back
Somewhere along the line I must've gone off track with you
Excuse me, think I've mistaken you for somebody else
Somebody who gave a damn,
Somebody more like myself

Chorus:
You took your coat off and stood in the rain
You were always like that

now where get divorced it's
Sevendust - Bi!ch

Intro

I can't imagine
to be like you
the pain and suffering
you put me through
(repeat)

1st verse

I can't imagine
to be like you
All the pain and suffering
I go through

You surrounded yourself
with evil
Every nightmare you have
is your equal

Chorus

(don't hesitate)
You live in your own hell.
(outta my way)
You're surrounded by evil
(don't hesitate)
you can't get away
(outta my way, outta my way)

2nd verse

Dark clouds will follow you
rainy days
will always find you
you can't ever get away
Evil will come
Another day

Chorus

(don't hesitate)
You live in your own hell.
(outta my way)
You're surrounded by evil
(don't hesitate)
you can't get away
(outta my way, outta my way)

I can't imagine
to be like you
the pain and suffering
you put me through
(repeat)

I can't imagine
to be like you
All the pain and suffering
I go through

You surrounded yourself
with evil
I hope it catched you up

I can't imagine
to be like you
the pain and the suffering
you put me through
(repeat two times)

The Offspring -Feelings is my favourite right now.
*************
Feelings
Nothing more than feelings
Trying to forget my
Feelings of hate

Imagine
Beating on your face
Trying to forget my
Feelings of hate

Feelings
For all my life i'll feel it
I wish I'd never met you
You'll make me sick again

Feelings, oh oh feelings
Of hate on my mind

Feelings
Feelings like I never liked you
Feelings like I want to kill you
Live in my heart

Feelings
Feelings like I wanna deck you
Feelings like I've gotta get you
Out of my life

Feelings, oh oh feelings
The hate's in my eyes

Feelings, oh oh feelings
You're not very nice
