This is as "Other Topic" as I will ever get...but I did share this in a letter to my W, hope it was not an LB.
There had been a bumper sticker around awhile ago that was, INHO, a bit blasphemous. It said "Expect a Miracle". Immediately, I took issue with it. After a bit of contemplation, I would change it to "Recognize Miracles".
It's not a big thing, really, but my usual company car was in the body shop due to an arguement with a truck. So, our parent company loaned one of their's for the duration. Mine is automatic...their's a standard. (My personal car is a standard.) I never could completely get used to the loaner during all that time. I kept stalling it out...even though I used to own one like it.
Late afternoon, last week, on a trip to a client near the airport I am taking an alternate route due to rush hour. I was pondering a letter I had received from my W's college roommate (sent to us both) as I approach the light that had just turned red. (I concider the letter's timing a blessing.)
The light turns green, I let out the clutch and stalled the engine. If I had not done so, a broad...talking on a cell phone...runs the light...just missing me by a foot. If I had not stalled, she would have planted her front bumper in my door at or about 45 mph! I would be postin' no more!!
Now, I use a car phone also...I know how easily distracted you can get, but I at least know when NOT to chance it in traffic. (I do not think, dispite my horn, that she even knew what she did.)
It may not have been a good idea to share this with my W as she USED to be bothered by my job. I told her she almost became a merry widow but that she had not wished hard enough! Not that many here would have missed me, either. Really, I just wanted her to see it as the miracle I saw, and asked her to see it that way.
rrunrr

[This message has been edited by rrunrr (edited July 18, 2000).]

Hey, love your sense of humor. And glad you're all right! I hate cell phones too. For a couple of reasons, one being that my H and his BestFriend spent about 2 hours a day yakking to each other on them for about 3 years plus (they still talk but not so much anymore) and also because the people yakking on them are oblivious to safety. Everyone who uses them says they are very conscious of what is going on around them. Which only shows that they have a blind spot about how they are not paying attention and being alert.
Again, glad you are all right. Yeah, that was a miracle!

------------------
Belle, Domestic Goddess

I give Him credit for a lot of little things that go right in my life. There are so many things which I can't accomplish and yet they happen for me, anyway. I'm forever finding little bits of money ($5) scattered around my house. I know I misplace it but I still think God makes it surface when I need it!
Then, there have been two times when I have been in accidents (one a car wreck, the other a hot air balloon crash 8,000 miles from home) when I've shut my eyes and waited to die. And I walked away from both. Once, I had my mother and my children in my car and heard this male voice tell me not to go because that other car was not going to stop and the other driver came through that intersection barely touching their brakes.
Yup, I expect God to take care of me though He doesn't rescue me and He does help me do an awful lot of things I never thought I could do.
