It is very, very important that you know if your character is suitable for long term living together with the character of your partner.
And with the character of your child.
If the characters match, you can go about one another on the "automatic pilot". If not, than you must know it so that you can do something (a lot) about it.
I wrote a book about the combination of years of birth with a pocket card for 'Life Partner', 'Parent-Child' and 'Friends'.
Mention the dates of birth (with year and m/f) and I'll give the insight with some good advice if needed. Bye, Jaap Hillen

You are born on 5/7/81, in the year of the ROOSTER. He 9/28/80, in the year of the MONKEY. Son 6/18/02, in the year of the HORSE.
For long term living together:
ROOSTER-wife with MONKEY-man 'perhaps'
These two powerful personalities may clash more often than they cooperate if they insist on maintaining their affectations. The Monkey man likes to get things done with a minimum of fuss and supervision. He prides himself on his ingenuity and innate capabilities. The Rooster girl is efficient and fastidiuous. She's prone to looking over his shoulder and picking up on his imperfections. They try each other's patience and endurance. He cannot stand her questioning and love for argument. She finds him too sure of himself and conceited to pay her much mind, let alone heed the advice she readily dishes out. Both are going to find the ride pretty rough unless they are willing to admit to some of their inherent shortcomings and meet the other halfway.
In 'Parent-Child' :
ROOSTER with HORSE-son 'perhaps'
The Horse will never submit to the Rooster's authority, and the Rooster won't know what to do about it.
MONKEY with HORSE-son 'perhaps'
Hm'n, Horse junior, although he is clever enough, mistrusts the cunning to which, perhaps, he'll fall a victim.
What can you do?
*** Make sure that the child never has to ask whether you love him.
*** Make sure it never has to feel the need to make a good impression
*** Cuddling!!! Listening!!! Praise!!!
+ Never say: "You're a horrible child!", but only criticize specific disobedience.
+ Even if your child is not "the apple in your eye", please behave as if he is.
+ Kind and strict. Consistent strictness with love will bring the child security.
+ Make sure that your child is certain that you highly esteem it, till 18 years, especially till 5 years. Bye, Jaap Hillen
