When I was first beginning my relationship with my wife, I would give her tapes of love songs, songs telling how I felt, etc.

Now that the Divorce is on the horizon, I wanna give her a CD (Times a changin' ya know), of songs to send her off with.

Since she cheated on me, gave up on the marriage, etc. keep that in mind.

I already have:

1. Every Light In The House Is On
2. Girl, Don't Go Away Mad, Just Go Away.

Your contributions?

Well...How about these?

1. I Breathe In, I Breathe Out -- Chris Cagle
2. Wish You Would Stay -- Brad Paisley
3. Nobody Knows But Me -- Kevin Sharp

Can you tell I like country?

Oh, I've got quite a few!

"I'm Movin' On" by Rascal Flatts
"Fortress Around Your Heart" by Sting
"If it Makes You Happy" by Sheryl Crow
"The Tin Man" by Kenny Chesney

and "The Heart of the Matter" by Don Henley...one of my all time favorite "divorce" songs.

And now, country fans, for a little treat you can't get anywhere else:

Keith Urban's new CD (which comes out next month) has a great breakup song called "You'll Think Of Me." I can't tell you where I got it (I'd have to kill ya!), but here's the lyrics:

I woke up early this morning
around 4am...

With the moon shining bright
as headlights on the interstate.

I pulled the covers over my head,
and tried to catch some sleep...

But thoughts of us kept keeping me awake.

Ever since you found yourself
in someone else's arms,

I've been tryin' my best
to get along

But that's okay,
There's nothing left to say, but...

Take you're records,
Take your freedom.
Take your memories
I don't need 'em.

Take your space
and take your reasons...

But you'll think of me.

And take your cat
and leave my sweater
'cause we have nothing
left to weather.

In fact I'll feel a whole lot better,

But you'll think of me,
you'll think of me...

I went out drivin'
tryin' to clear my head.

I try to sweep out all the rooms
that my emotions lived.

I guess I'm feelin' just
a little tired of this,

And all the baggage
that seems to still exist.

It seems the only blessing
I have left to my name,

Is not knowing
what we could have been
what we should have been, so...

Take you're records,
Take your freedom.
Take your memories
I don't need 'em.

Take your space
and take your reasons...

But you'll think of me.

And take your cat
and leave my sweater
'cause we have nothing
left to weather.

In fact I'll feel a whole lot better,

But you'll think of me,
you'll think of me...

Someday, I'm gonna run across your mind,
but don't worry, I'll be fine,
I'm gonna be all right.

While you're sleeping with your pride,
wishin' I could hold you tight,
I'll be over you

And on with my life

So take you're records,
Take your freedom.
Take your memories
I don't need 'em.

Take your space
and take your reasons...

But you'll think of me.

And take your cat
and leave my sweater
'cause we have nothing
left to weather.

In fact I'll feel a whole lot better,

But you'll think of me,
you'll think of me...

(chorus repeats)

I wish I could give you a sense of the music, except to say that it is beautiful, and the words alone don't convey the emotion in the song. FWIW, the CD hits stores 10/08.

Here's one...

"Change of Heart" by Tom Petty

Here are the lyrics.....

Well I fought for you
I fought too hard
To do it all again babe,
Its gone to far
You never needed me
You only wanted me around
It gets me down

There's been a change,
Yeah there's been a change of heart
Said there's been a change
You push just a little too far
Made it just a little to hard
There's been a change of heart

I'll get over you
It won't take long
I've stood in your gallery
Seen what's hangin' from the wall

You were the moon and sun,
You're just a loaded gun now
It gets me down

There's been a change,
Yeah there's been a change of heart
Said there's been a change
You push just a little too far
You make it just a little to hard
There's been a change of heart

Whoa yeah, oh boy
Looks like we finally reachedthe turning point
Oh me, oh my
Looks like its time for me to kiss it good-bye,
Yeah kiss it good-bye

There's been a change,
yeah there's been a ch ange of heart
Said there's been a change
You push just a little too far
You make it just a little to hard
There's been a change of heart

Forget About Us - Tim McGraw (Set This Circus Down)
written by: Mark Collie

I'm gonna drive on out to the river tonight
Find a quiet spot, turn on my parking lights
I'm gonna drink some beers, try to catch a buzz
Turn my radio up and forget about us

I'm gonna lay me down on the hood of this car
Make another wish upon a falling star
I'm gonna think again about the way it was
I'm gonna close my eyes and forget about us

I know it won't be easy but I've got a plan
To just let my memory let go of your hand
I'm gonna miss your touch
But I know I must forget about us

And when the morning sun burns across my face
I'll put my shirt back on, get up and walk away
I'm gonna climb my frame onto a Greyhound bus
Take a little blue pill and forget about us

I know it won't be easy but I've got a plan
To just let my memory let go of your hand
I'm gonna miss your touch
But I know I must forget about us

(Spoken):
By the time I get to Phoenix, I won't know your name
Those soft green eyes, your warm skin
And the way you say "Good morning"
I'll be alright

Heard the song "Too Bad" by Nickelback on way to gym. It is a great CD. Lotsa songs about bad breakups.

Here's a few:
For the abusive relationship: Never AGain
Breakup anthem: How you remind Me
Father/mom Splitting on the family: Too Bad

I do not know the correct name of this song, but I love it and it is brand new and by the group, Incubus. Think it may be called "Warning".

Chorus: She woke in the morning; she knew that her life had passed her by; she called out a warning; don't ever let life pass you by.

That is my new anthem. Not lettin' life pass me by anymore.

Cjack is right. Henley's "Heart of the Matter" is one of the all time best(?) divorce songs.

He also has another called "You Don't Know Me Anymore" that fits pretty well.

I think maybe this Eagle could have fit in pretty well on this board...

The two songs I most associate with my x are some song about "Have You Ever Really Loved a Lady" by someone I can't remember and "You Hurt Me, I Hate You" by The Eurhymics. It's not that I hate x but that, one day, about the time he filed, I got into his car twice and both times, when he started the tape player, that song came on.

A few "hair-band" songs:

Cinderella: Don't know what you've got til it's gone

Motley Crue: Don't go away mad, just go away

Pink: Just like a pill (my new anthem)

Bon Jovi: You don't have to say you love me

Good luck with this!!
