My only sweetheart daughter will be 18 on Nov 26.

6 weeks ago my D wrote letter to H stating that for her BD, Christmas and every gift giving occasion for the rest of her life, she wanted him to give up OW, stop this BS and get serious about help from NA or AA.

My H was Questioning me last week about what we should do for her BD. After I talked to her, she said "I already told him what I wanted" H said "thats not going to happen"

H wanted to rent a hall and he would cater it, D said she didnt want anything as she had nothing to celebrate. says she doesnt even want a cake.

Now one week later she is wanting a party. We cant afford to rent a hall, and H's means of catering probably means taking the food from where he works without paying (he teaches cooking)

not to mention that I dont think I can be in same room with H, its just so painful for me and D seems to be really confused as to what she wants.

and then there is the fact that she will be graduationg from HS this year and I think renting a hall would be a much better idea then as maybe things will have settled down some and maybe in better financial shape.

In the past shw has had outside bonfire parties and I think I could handle that, but she is probably a little bored with them. We have an ideal property for this, fire pit and all

Does anyone have any ideas? I am desperate as D is so unhappy about all that has happened in last 2 years

Your D is going to be 18, maybe a hopechest party. I don't know your story, but my family did it for my twin and i on our 18th b-day. Everyone brings a letter, or note telling her what about her makes her special, along with a gift that goes into a hopechest (my parents bought us each one to put at the end of the bed)(my dad actually made one for older sister, at the time we were so broke) any way it really made an inpact on me because i knew then that they were planning for my future happiness, and that although they were a part of my life they were giving me permission to grow on my own. You can arrange a time for H to come over when your not there to give his gift. I'm like you, i would save the H for graduation.
