in my area was the middle of this week.
My sister has already bagged half her limit of antlered deer. She wishes she hadn't, though.
She was in a van, driving 6 of her students (she is a teacher) from middle Tennessee to Saint Louis. And she hit a deer somewhere in Illinois before they reached their destination. Had to spend half a day sitting around in a small town with these girls before the van rental place could get a new van to her. I don't know if they made it to their destination or not.
The deer was a 6-pointer.

Hi Cinderella, just curious since you said your sister lives in middle TN. I'm very seriously considering moving to the Nashville/Murfreesboro area after my DV is final. Is she anywhere around there? Or are you? I'd love to get more first hand info on the area. Sorry to hear of her "hunting accident". They are pretty common place around here (Central PA)and can be very destructive to a vehicle. Hope everybody is OK! Thanks

What would you like to know?
My sister and I are two of the 12 remaining native Nashvillians. The rest of the people living here moved here from somewhere else. They say Nashville drivers are the worst....but it's probably all the people who moved here. Actually, on our father's side, we are second generation natives. And who know how long both of our families have been around this part of the southeast. Tons of relatives between Nashville and Chattanooga - but we don't know them.
She lives north of downtown and I live west of downtown. We grew up south of downtown. Don't know much about the east side of Nashville. Don't know too much about the surrounding counties but do know a little.

Highness, having just supped on grilled venison I thought I might have somewhat to add. Now mine was grilled in the backyard, but at this time of year with the change of seasons deer tend to migrate over larger areas in search of food. This tends to make them cross roads where they get grilled on the front of things such as vans. The fall in rural areas with deer herds can be exiting. To that end I was cut off on the highway last week by some "gentleman" who really had somewhere to go. Not 2 minutes later I saw him "grill" a very large doe at about 75 MPH . True the Silvarado came out ahead but not without enough damage put put it on the side of the road till the wrecker got there .

I guess I should ask her how to grill venison.
Actually, she is the third person I have known to hit a deer. And I have seen deer standing in the middle of my street. It took me a second to recognize them as deer and not large, ugly dogs. I did recognize them pretty quickly but did do a doubletake because I am not used to seeing them in my neighborhood.

I have the record for deer being hit in front of my driveway.
9 in the last 4 years, oh yeah and this spring I got to deliver live twin fawns from doe that was hit anout 7am. They were about 1 month too soon and didnt make it, but they died fighting and I tried my best.
I live in a very overgrown township. There is 1 strip of unbuildable land between me and elementary school down the road. There is also a lake across street, so my driveway becomes the "chute" for flying deer from the woods.
By the way, this is deer mating season and deer blindly run across roads not in search of food but to avoid overly amorous bucks, so be careful out there.

Do all females run??? Is that what the problem is? Just wondering.

I guess deer just dont enjoy it the way dolphins do.
Anyway, I guess only the crotch crickets run, cause I didnt and I guess in hindsight..I should have... 26 years of hell, but I have my 4 kids and I am thankful for that.

We have an abundant amount of deer here, and was wondering if they have a limit of how many deer they can take. I was told, there is no limit here for the population is so large.
I saw a couple of deer today on the highway, dead of course. Maybe, the deer should have birthcontrol done. They tried it somewhere up norht in Michigan, and it did help. They shot the does with an injection of some hormone, and this caused the deer to not become ready.
Anyways, your country is very pretty, would like one day to visit, when I have the money, and am not depressed.
