Last nite I attended first session of a DRW. This is free in our state, part of a program called "People in Transition"

class is 6 weeks, 1.5 hrs and was very enjoyable. As part of the program they also offer other 6 week workshops (bereavement, forgiveness, dressing for sucess etc) and mini 1 nite workshops..legal(pertaining to divorce), stress management and many more..I dont have brochure in front of me. All Free! Program also helps displaced homemakers with college tuition. I have individual appointment next week for that. She wanted to see me immediately so she could get me into school this semester but I said thatwasnt necessary cause program Im applying for starts in fall. So the wheels seem

Psychologist leading our group was wonderful. And most enjoyed the evening. So many were so sad, even though we didnt get into individual situations.

There was one man who I would ask you to pray for though. I figure he was about 70 years old. His wife just left him after 49 years of marriage and he seemed to be devastated, he was in tears several times. After only one 1.5 hour class.. he seems to be adopted as our class mascot. <img border="0" alt="[Teary]" title="" src="graemlins/teary.gif" />

Please pray for him.

Anyone needing these services should check into this in their area. This is NJ, but I think my psychologist who told me about program said it was a federal program

Hi, sunrise,

Is this the Divorce Care series? I looked into that program as I have heard great things from local friends and also on these boards. The program you are speaking of sounds a bit different, but wonderful. I live in upstate NY and would be interested in such a program.

Thanks for sharing!

I belong to a separated/divorced support group run by a local church. It's not as formal as you stated, or as DivorceCare, but it's been invaluable in my recovery.
I suggest all interested people check out their local paper for such groups, they are amazing, and I've made some wonderful friends.

Sunrise, this sounds like a great program and just the "ticket" I need to start letting go, really letting go, so the bad days can become history. How did you find out the info for your particular state? Yellow pages? Friends?
Our church has a recovery group that I am going to look into, but the program you're involved in sounds much more far reaching...especially when you need people to turn to who actually have some answers!! Thanks for the post - take care of yourself.

Hi...
I have checked out several divorce/separation groups in my area. I have also heard good things about the "Divorce Care" series. Although I ultimately decided not to join one at this time, you might be interested in checking out their website at Divorce Care. They have contact names and numbers for different cities/states.
