Good for you! Don't miss it I chewed gum like crazy for months! I quit smoking, but not lately..... 21 years ago when OS was born.

Keep it up Sauron. That is great news. I love to see 'former' future potential patients trying to keep me out of their lives. hahaha I have enough people who think they are going to defy what they do to themselves, simply because they had an uncle that drank and smoked every day of his life and died in his 90s.
I assume it must be horribly difficult. I have never smoked, or had any sort of addictive habit, I guess if you don't count Diet Coke, for which I am not just Jaw hooked but swallowed the whole thing. Started in medical school, because I needed the caffeine to keep moving. It progressed into a full blown 'need', haha. I really should cut back. And In fact, I have been drinking alot more water.
hhhhmmmmmm...... maybe I have polydipsia.
Anyway, keep up the good work.

Hey Harold, I'm quit 28 months now, but I still go to www.quitnet.org just about every day. Didn't know if you knew about the Quitnet. If not, try it! It's great..and a LOT like MB! You'll get a lot of support there. Bill

Godd for you Harold. My New Years Rsolution was to stop chewing. I have chewed since right before I turned 14. So in November I gave up whiskey and you know what I learned. When you eat your meals instead of drinking them you start gaining weight.
Then on New Years Eve, I gave up my Copenhagen can. Unlike you though, I MISS IT and am going crazy. I have to admit that I have had probably 4 chews in the 14 days, but considering I was using a can a day, that's pretty good.
And again I'm sitting here watching my waste line grow and GROW. I have a special pair of cowboy jeans that I like to wear when I go out. I went out Friday night and felt like a teen-age girl, I swear to goodness that I was about to break out the Crisco to get them darn things on......
Anyway, keep up the good work. I'm already thinking of my next year's resolution, TO LOOSE WEIGHT....

Hey the farther down the non-smoking road you go the easier it gets. I quit 10 years ago. After a month I got to where even the THOUGHT of smoking was repulsive to me. Keep it up.

Just checking up on you Sauron. Hope everything is going well. And just think of all the money that you will be saving. I was at a convenience store the other day and couldn't believe the price of cigarettes. Over $3 a pack here in the midwest.
Many of my patients who 'can't afford medical care' somehow find the funds to pay for 2 or 3 packs per day. It is amazing how priorities can set a person on a path.
Hope that you are still looking to never see me.
I always tell my patients when they leave, "I hope that I don't see you again, unless it is at a baseball game."
So, if I ever see you, it had better be behind homeplate.
Take care.

You never know. You smell better now. And you taste better - kissing you won't be like licking an ashtray anymore. You never know where that might lead.

Hi Sauron.
Hi Y'all! Just to let my Marriage-Builders Family know that I have finally - yes, finally - after literally hundreds of failed attempts - I have managed to stop smoking: cold turkey, no snuff, NRT, etc.
Yea for you!!!! Yes, I too am back on the straight and narrow. I have many many failed attempts as well.
I was at 4 months some free and not missing it when DDay hit. I picked them right back up. STUPID!!!
I've had a couple of feeble attempts since then, but am doing ok now. I still need patches to get past a month though...after that I do ok on my own. Sometimes I think the patches are more of a security blanket than anything else.
Yipee for you!!! (and me too!!)
PDD

Congratulations Sauron! That's AWESOME!!
This coming March 5th will mark one full year of my quitting smoking. And I'm looking forward to it. It's amazing how much money I've NOT spent since last March 5th .
I've had a few times when I've had the "urge" to get a smoke and light it up. But you know what? Those "cravings" aren't for a cigarette. They're for other things that are still missing in my life. I'm working on filling them in now.
Be prepared for some rough times ahead, just in case. For me, I even had a few dreams that I had smoked... and I awoke feeling so GUILTY!! And there was something about the 6 week mark that hit hard too. But I continued to abstain from smoking, and I'm so thankful for it! One of the tricks that helped me, was to convince myself that if I were to light up just ONE MORE SMOKE, then I would get cancer IMMEDIATELY. And that's no good. Not b/c I'd be sick... but b/c when I died, the boys would be in the custody of their dad! And THAT is something I refuse to let happen!
