Well, it did come to what I had expected. My lovely husband, who claims to love his son more than life, just quit his job after paying child support for 3 1/2 months. He makes double of what I make and he provided med ins for the baby through his employer. For those unfamilar with my story, a little recap: Husband had Sunday visitations with the baby, started coming by on Sundays at undefinate times or not showing up without letting me know. When I got fed up with this and decided that I don't have to spend my Sundays waiting around for him to come by, he started threatening me and became verbally abusive. I got an order of protection against him. He didn't show up for the hearing and the judge included the baby in the order. My husband got supervised visitations. In the period of 3 months he showed up once and the next day called the agency and said he wont come anymore. That was in November. He hasn't seen the baby since. When we came for pre trial on Jan 9th, his lawyer stated that "he has unresolved visitation issues" The judge ordered parenting time evaluation. Arrr, that delays my divorce another 6 months, plus I have to pay $250. I don't see how this is even possible when he refused the visitations. And now he quit his job so I don't have med ins for the baby or child support. So what now? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" />

WOW, what a burden for one to carry. First I think you pray.... and then pray some more.
Have you talked to his emplorer or him to see when insurance coverage runs out. Usually, the insurace will carry to the beginning of the next monthy dues. Like if I quit today, my insurance wouldn't run out until the 15th of Febuary. You also may have the option of keeping the insurance through COBRA but that is usally pretty expensive and it only lasts for like six months.
I don't know your financial position, but if it's bleek, then I'd head to the local SRS office and explain the story to them and see what assistance they can offer...... I know in Kansas we have the "Health Wave" program but I'm not sure what the qualifications are for that. I do believe it's a nation wide program.
Hugs, Thoughts, & Prayers

Thank you Bill, I am not able to talk to my husband, I have an order of protection against him. I know he is doing this to dodge paying child support. He told a friend of mine that I am using the baby to get $$ out of him. He was paying $736 per month. Daycare costs $600-$800 per months. Thats not counting anything else. He made over $80,000 last year and has been trying to hide his income. The latest paystub he provided tomy lawyer was for July 2001. I spoke to his employer, the coverage will end on Jan 31st. Cobra costs &639 per months, I can't afford it, heck I can't even afford daycare.

Get to your lawyer ASAP. He will be required to cover ins. if he has in the past. Just because he's not working, doesn't mean that he doesn't have to pay CS. The child still has needs. Your lawyer may need to file something, but go ASAP. And, go to your local women's crisis center and ask for help, whether counseling, cheap daycare alternatives, etc. Focus on you and what you can do for your child.
PS. I answered earlier and it didn't show. My psychological evaluations for custody required us each to put $2000 in retainers. And we are zipping through that money. So $250 sounds great to me. Although, I don't know your whole story, it must be serious given the RO.

Thank you Newly, I contacted my lawyer twice yesterday and once today, apparently he is out sick and hasn't called. I also called the CS worker, she didn't get back tome either.

You see? He refused the visits and I am still supposed to pay and wait for the divorce another 6 months because of this? It doesn't feel like a bargain.

COBRA runs $500 on one person month & over $750 for family, it can run up to 18 months in Al. I have it on me but havent worked in 14 yrs & X pays it for 18 months. X has to keep medicial & dental on son & has to pay the co-payments on them as well. But dont hold your breath making them pay. still waiting for X to repay me on our son. dr visit & rx today put him over $1100. they know you have to take them back to court to make them pay. that cost as much as the D did. I have to keep a copy of everything I mail X, my lawyer says the 1st thing out of X mouth to the judge will be I never got the bill. And the Judge will ask for proof of you letters. My brother son just got layed off in Fl., lawyer got his childsupport payments cut in half until he found a job. He had to go back to court to do it. Not sure how much court cost was.
