I don't think I can type much without making myself cry so I won't. I'm just shocked and saddened by the news this morning. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" />

I was absolutely horrified. I got up this morning at 3am and couldn't go back to sleep. Started watching some movies and then decided I should take a nap before coaching b-ball games, so I turned it over to CNN around 7:30 and just as I was drifting off the story broke.
After watching the footage over and over I had to take a moment to cry and pray. What also shocked me is that said that the last one was 17 years ago. I don't know about you but that made me feel old.............

8 hours after the event, I woke to the news here in Oz. I could not believe it....news of this magnitude seems so unbelievable.
Anna, you are away from the fall of debris, right? Well, according to what I saw on CNN, it missed Houston.
It just seems that bad news and tragic events are srrounding the US too much in recent times. My heartfelt commisserations to you all.
Love and healing light,
Jacky

LH and Jacky,
Thanks for responding. It was such a shocker and yes LH, 17 years ago, wow! For some reason I was thinking the Challenger was more like 10 years ago! It doesn't even seem that long ago that we were all glued to our television, along with all the school children, all watching the unbelievable tragedy occur before our eyes.
I think we all should say a special prayer tonight for their families.
Oh and Jacky, you are right the debris was far enough away from Houston, thank God, we would have all hated to see more lives taken by this.
Take care,
ANNA

You know Bill, until you pointed out that you felt old about knowing the Challenger disaster was 17 years ago, I was fine with it. Now, though, I feel old too.
I was going to college in Daytona Beach at the time of the Challenger accident. I had just left my dorm to go to class. As I was walking to my car, I looked up to watch the launch. I could see a little, tiny shuttle and the huge plume of smoke streaming back from it. (It is an incredible site in person.) Suddenly, the boosters took off by themselves, obviously much earlier than usual. I didn't realize right away what had happened, and I was running late for class. When I got there, the tv was already on and we spent the entire class watching the news coverage. We all just sat there stunned at the whole thing.
This one was equally unbelievable, but a little less immediate feeling. It seemed so unreal watching a plume of smoke streak across the sky on tv. I saw on the news over the weekend that the parents of one of the women also lost a son in the World Trade Center attack. I can't imagine how they must be feeling.
