I know there are many on this board who's X's have remarried in Vegas. Here's a story.
I went to Vegas by myself last weekend for a trip to celebrate my upcoming Independence. I met a couple at the blackjack table. They were in their 30's, attractive, and mentioned they had just been married that day. Both were divorced. She was 7 months pregnant. No family attended.

They spent their wedding evening and night sitting at blackjack tables in Vegas! This isn't how I envision starting my future. They barely looked at each other.

They married cause she was pregnant. Nothing else. Probably going to try to make a go of it. I would personally not want to be in Vegas again. For anything. I don't like the town that much. I like the surrounding area. But Vegas seems to be consisted of sin and adultery.

Would like to see where this couple is 5 years from now when the little one is 5 years old. Probably she will be left, like the rest of us betrayed spouses. To fend for herself, and to fend for the child. The father will probably been long gone, and with another woman.

If I were to marry again. It would be in a church. That I know my pastor is there. To have my children there, and to have my very closest friends and family. Nothing big. And then a dinner afterwards. Or maybe at a park, and have an outdoor wedding.

The sermon of their wedding probably lasted 5 minutes. And that was it. So sad, so unloving, so thoughtless. I wonder what she felt like when he announced them man and wife. A man it doesn't make any difference. He already spread his DNA. But the woman, a wedding means so much.

Newly and Faith4me,

I got married in Vegas last year and I loved my wedding. For me, it was much more intimate and romantic than my first marriage. My H and I flew to Vegas on March 8, 2002 and got married at a quiet little chapel that night. We flew there planning to get married but had no idea where in Vegas it would take place. We got there in the evening, got ready and went to the courthouse. We stood in line to get our marriage license. We got it, walked outside and saw a small, white chapel around the corner. At 10pm, our ceremony started. It wasn't expensive, no family was there...just me, my husband, the minister, photographer and the chapel hostess, but it was so wonderful. We wanted it to be that private. We then spent a week there going to shows, gambling (won $10,000), and just touring the city. We took so many pictures and so much video. The fountain show at the Bellagio is beautiful! Yes, we missed our sons but we did have fun.

Vegas weddings aren't always cold, impersonal or spontaneous. They can be just as meaningful as a "normal" wedding.

Mitzi, thanks for the other viewpoint. I'm glad your marriage is going well. (If I recall, aren't you married to the Indian guy? Did his XGF ever stop calling?)
When I saw this couple barely communicating, and sitting at the blackjack tables on their wedding night, it seemed sad, not a happy occasion.
