My husband and I have been married for almost 3 years. 3 years that have been what I would dub "the best and worst" of times. We have both had our part in tearing down what we believed God put together. So in the last few months, I stopped pointing the finger at him and finally saw that depression I have been suffering through for years, emotional instability and low self-esteem have had a toll on my marriage. I sought counseling for myself. Now my husband says he is not "in love" with me anymore, but wants to work on our marriage. He also says that he has mostly loved me and not been "in love" with me for the most part of our marraige. But he has treated me like a queen, always provided, most of the time provided the emotional needs and "warm stuff" that I needed and wanted. And he says he wants to make this work.
How do I know what to do at this point? I want my marriage and am committed to him, but I don't want him to want it just for the sake of not wanting to be divorced or something. How do I know what he is saying is true and how do I know that we won't end up in the same place down the a few years down the road? I am so confused and hurt.
At this point, I don't even know what to pray for - - heal and restore my marriage? But God won't go against my husband's will, so how do I know for sure that it is sincerely his heart's desire to be in love with me and stay committed til death do us part?

Here's an idea. Pray that God's will be done. I know it sounds so obvious. But in spite of it being in the Lord's Prayer, I only came to that recently when I realized that it was ridiculous for me to pray for one or another outcome because an all knowing, all powerful, all good God would know what was best in the long run and if He interfered, would interfere in that direction.

Remember too, that God tempers the wind to the shorn lamb. He won't give you more than you can handle with His help.

Give it time. I think God brought me here. May have brought you too. Hope is not lost, though your h. may not see it yet.

Best to you.

Thanks very much! I guess I am just so heart-broken that I am searching for an answer instead of just waiting on God.

It's not always what you want to hear, but that is the best advice that I could ask for.

Trusting in Christ . . .
