Hey Nikko,

I was only aware of what we have to do here in PA for the Empty Minded Twit training [just kidding], so I tapped my resources and have the following partial info for ya. Tomorrow I will have more. You have to remember that I am a dinosaur in EMS here. I was in the fifth Medic program in the state ever offered back in '80. I have been involved in Earn Money Sleeping for 25 years now.

Warren Hospital will be conducting an EMT program in August. Presently, I do not have the dates or times [Hopefully tomorrow] The cost is approx $550.00. But, if you are a member of a volunteer ambulance squad, the state picks up the tab. Not sure if you have to run with the squad for predeterminded time or not. To become a medic there are four designated facilities that offer the training after you are an EMT for a year.

So, I would suggest to you to join the local volly squad and have the state pick up the tab. I do have connections [thru a bud] with Pburg and Lopatcong EMS, so it shouldn't be a prob, you could attend for free. [Thank you, NJ]

Also, my bud works at Hunterdon Developmental Center and there are usually openings for entry level care givers. I have seen the benny package , starting union rate and it's a good deal. He could'nt be happier and will put in a good word for a bud of Zippy's.

If you are really interested give me an E at Moose7771@AOL.COM. I could most certainly hook you up as you are a bud as well. Remember there is blood, guts, and goor involved. It's a male dominated field because us guys just don't get emotionally involved with patient care. Not, that it's a bad thing, I just remember running with Val on the 'blance and she would always want to hug the patient and I would have to tell her to get out of the way so I could perform some definiative care to save the patient's life.

Just something to think about. I think that's why my M fell apart, because I was such a good medic. I didn't have the emotional attachment which I have dubbed "wearing the orange" "PARAMEDIC" on our state patch is in [duh] bright orange.

I will have more info for you tomorrow. Hope this helps. I don't want to make EMS sound like we don't care, but, that's when we do our best. You can't get emotionally involved, it defeats the purpose.
