How many people experienced an award of counsel fees in their divorce cases? And if you did, how much was it?

Does the lack of response mean that nobody has received or paid counsel fees? It's an urban legend?

My ex asked...they laughed at him--considering his income was three times what mine was--
And my lawyer went pro-bono

My lawyer said not to bother asking for it. They wouldn't grant it.

My attorney is requesting that attorney fees be paid and assures me that I will get them because:
1. H filed first, and this action forced me into retaining an attorney. In other words, it was H's choice to do this, not mine, so he must pay.
2. H makes 6 digit income and I am on Social Security Disability only. So H has the ability to pay, while I do not.

Ms Mink - thanks for your reply. Are you getting child support, spousal support, and/or alimony pendente lite yet? Since your husband makes 6 figures, are you expecting a significant property distribution?

My W is requesting it, but hopefully won't be awarded it. She abandoned the M, she filed, she has a full-time job, we have no minor children. She also is requesting a $2500.00 computer for "career training". Hopefully the judge will see she's emotionally disturbed and will order counseling. Good luck and God bless!

My lawyer was going after attorneys fees and he thinks we would have got them but this was based on husband abusing me. Instead my ex made a settlement giving me the house free and clear and I took it and paid my own legal fees.

Thank you, Anna and HPK. In my state fault (including abuse) could be a factor in alimony, but not equitable distribution or counsel fees. Go figure. For counsel fees, one is supposed to show an actual need, or that the other party acted somehow to make the fees higher. Or if the judge feels like it ...
