Hi everyone !
My husband are planning to attend the Weekend Seminar being held in Dallas Texas on September 21-22 and I was wondering if anyone here has ever attended. My flights are booked, the hotel is booked and our registration has been sent in. We can't back out now !! Anyone have any insight. We are both looking forward to it.
twinzmom

~Smiles~
Looking forward to attending the same session as you! H and I newlyweds (10 months) and are looking forward to developing our MB skills to make our marriage the BEST.
Of course... we have already got two of the books listed in the seminar, otherwise, we wouldn't have stumbled onto this site and the seminars themselves. We appreciate the support network that is available and are learning to use the boards to prompt our own communications to meeting each others needs.
See you in Dallas!

GreySkyes:
Happy to hear you are going as well. Are you from the Dallas area? Dr. Harley was planning last year to hold a seminar in Florida, which is where we are from and it would have been so much more affordable for us to attend, but he cancelled it. I was crushed because back then we knew our marriage was in serious trouble and we were hanging on by a thread.
It's now going to run us about $1000 to go. I am hoping it will be worth it. I am just afraid we will come away with all this knowledge about making a great marriage but, it won't be easy/pratical to apply to the marriage. Anyway, I'm still excited about going. My Mom lives in Dallas so it will still be worth the cost of the plane tickets.
twinzmom

IMHO, just about any seminar is useful.
Why? Because, all over these boards, couples are in distress. What setting is the most likely to be more stressful: only a couple vs. a group? Well, to me it is obvious that a group setting will be far less threatening than the relatively intimate rehashing of events that is likely to occur in couple counseling. I also believe that at least one party in a couple is likely to see "counseling" as threatening.
So, good luck in a seminar setting where education can occur with less sense of threat

Dear twinzmom....
~soft laughter~ (Why do you ask? do I type Texan or something???) Yes, we live in the area, and are fortunate not to have to pay for airfare. However, it would be well worth the investment to gain the skills to make our marriage better. (My wedding dress a year ago cost more that what airfare for 2 would run.)
I look at the upcoming seminar as an investment in our future. The opportunity to learn what does and does not work in a non-threatening environment (group) and provide us with a mutual starting point if not understanding... so that we can develop the skills to be better spouses to one another. The wedding was fun... it was a great party, but like all weddings... the marriage is the party favor of a lifetime... so I want to learn how to enjoy it, protect it, and cherish it along with the memories of the party.
I am looking forward to meeting you.
