Hi Mrs. David B,
Your title caught my eye. There are two websites in particular that are devoted to helping a "standing" spouse. One is
www.restorem.org It is run by a couple who went through a 2 yr. divorce in which he cheated on her. He is now an active part of this ministry (they remarried and had 3 more kids afterwards!). If you go there, read some testimonies, including theres.
Another site is
www.rejoiceministries.org It is also run by a couple who went through a 2 yr divorce and he had an affair. They remarried too and have been married many years. They are older and have grandkids and are just the sweetest couple.
They write devotions that you can get sent to you every day via email. You can sign up for them. They are called "Charlyne Cares."
Both sites have some books and tapes to offer. I can recommend some for you if you'd like.
I also would recommend the prayer request forum here. I have found most of the people who post there are really kind, encouraging people.
There are a few other marriage ministry sites that I know of, but these two will give you alot of encouragement... esp. the testimonies at restore ministries and the devotions from rejoice ministreis. Oh, you can also get a prayer partner from restore ministries. Actually, my first prayer partner was divorced when we "met" about a year ago. She was really struggling and her husband was saying the thing that most leaving spouses say, "I never loved you," "Move on," etc. She was about ready to give up on God, live, everything. Well, we lost touch for a few months and when I next wrote her, they were remarried! It has not been easy still, but...
Also, the husband at rejoice ministries often gives insight into what he was thinking/feeling when he was having an affair. He kinda gives you a glimpse into the mind of the spouse saying "I never loved you."
I am not sure if you are a Christian or not? Both these sites are Christian sites.
I am sorry for the pain in your life right now. I think these sites will help you alot. They have both helped me alot, esp. the devotions! Right when I would be feeling like all was hopeless or I'd be feeling bitter, etc... I'd get a devotional and be reminded of many good things.
God bless!
