There are things you can control.
There are things you can't control.
Let go of those things you can't control. That's God's job.
Work on yourself.
There is nothing as futile as trying to change someone.
Change yourself.
Happy people have control of their own lives, not others. Unhappy people try to control other people's lives in hopes that they will find happiness. It won't work.
Be happy. Let them be.
I was in a very difficult situation this weekend. I had to be near my XH and XMIL to be there for our DS at a special event for him. My DD was being treated very unfairly. I had to LET IT GO, even though my baby girl was in tears. Hardest thing for a mama to do. The mama bear in me wanted to rip them to pieces. I had to hug my DD and tell her to be good and listen to XH and XMIL, that I loved her and that I'd see her the next day. And walk away. Hard, hard stuff.

Princess,
I've been following your story but haven't posted to you.
I like your attitude a lot! I am right there with you.
I have learned you absolutely MUST let go otherwise it will eat you alive.
Your posts with the "bridge" analogy were right on the money.
I am building a new "bridge" myself. It Works!

Good words ExPrincess. I liked the Bridge analogy too.
There are a million and one things in life that we cannot control. Accidents, diseases, crimes, getting old! Losing jobs, loved ones dying, the weather, the economy, etc. To an extent, we can do certain things to "control" (like eat healthy, don't walk in dark and dangerous places, etc) but really, if we were to be angry at all the things outside our control, we'd be very, very bitter people indeed.
I admire the way you handled the situation with your daughter and exhusband.
