Well, I'm not peoplepleaser, but I just talked to Bill today. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

He's in pretty good spirits and is sounding more and more like the Bill we all know and love. The official "diagnosis" is broken ulna (arm), broken tib/fib on one leg (upper and lower leg) and broken tib on the other, broken pelvis, and there was a break in L4/L5 so he broke his back. Also, his knee was a mess but that wasn't mentioned in the official chart.

Anyway...he had the surgery Sunday to put rods in one of his legs and in his arm, but he still needs to have surgery in one more leg. I think they fixed his knee when they did this surgery. He is off all intravenous drugs (YAY!! Good for him!!) and he has gotten to a point where the pain medication is doing a good job without totally knocking him out or making him all groggy.

The plan is for him to move into a rehab house on Monday. Can you BELIEVE IT??? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> He will have to wait about a week or so after that just to have the surgery on his other broken leg--not to mention his pelvis and back! At this time he is on complete bedrest, and when he's being a "good boy" he gets up out of bed and sits in his wheelchair for 45 min. as part of his recovery. Of course, we all know that Bill is anything but good! heehee <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />

Let's see...his oxygen saturation is staying up (when pain meds were all wrong, his O2 level would go down to 60% and that's BAD!! Now they stay up) and his blood count is doing good, so he's doing better. He's getting some sleep, which is also very good, and mostly just wishes his girls could visit him. He misses his girls a LOT.

Sooo...I read him his MB posts and well-wishes and prayers everyday, and you can't imagine how much it cheers him up. Please keep writing and posting, and everything that I print, I'm also going to mail to him once he gets settled someplace he's going to stay for a while.

On Bill's behalf, thank you all so much for your prayers and thoughts!!

That's ok. I'd never double posted before, believe it or not.

Basically I had said the same thing that FW said. Billy sounded better, really appreciates the thoughts and prayers, and misses the girls but will soon (yesterday i think) be back in Salina so they will be able to visit more easily.

He said boredom was somewhat setting in but hopefully he would be able to do some things on a laptop after his next surgery on his Heel.

The only thing I reported differently in my first update was that it was hard for me to imagine Billy in the "nursing home" as he calls it. But I think he was releived to have a place he could get the care he needs until he is back on those bony legs of his ( sorry buddy, just couldn't resist) Guess next thing he'll post will be about running little old blue haired ladies over with his wheelchair... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> He is such a sweetie, I'm sure he will be adopted and everyone's favorite patient before long.

I'm gonna try to get out for a visit in a month or so, weather permitting.

Oh, and one last thing ... GO PANTHERS!!!!!

Sorry but that is all I have now too, except his home address which I have written down at work ( it's a PO Box now since he just recently moved)

He did say that someone who be checking it for him once he got back to Salina.. I've written down your e-mail address and I'll send it to you when I get to work tomorrow ( weather permitting)
beleive it or not, they are calling for more ice/freezing rain tonight.

Living in South Carolina isn't as sunny as it used to be, LOL!

Go Panthers!

I don't really know. He said he was on his way home last Friday night and the cell phone rang and realized it was in the floorboard. He reached to get it and hit a bridge. I'm not clear on whether he went off the bridge or what type of bridge it was. I went out to visit last summer and that's some pretty flat dry land.

Of course he was seriously medicated that Saturday I first talked to him. He really didn't remember much.

I've asked a few questions but if you know Billy like I do, if he doesn't feel like talking about it, he just won't. I'm not sure why the girls were not with him, as it was his weekend with them, but I am very thankful that he hadn't got to get them yet.

If you find out anything else about what happened, please let me know. It wasn't me that called him on the cell that night, BTW.

That's one of our standing inside jokes. We often get disconnected on his cell phone and for the first few times, I would always call right back thinking he ran into something.... well, he does have quite a history of hitting deer, etc..

Anyway, I think Billy is a great guy and is definately one of my best friends.

We've gone to a couple of NASCAR races together in the past 2 years. We have this pact to go to at least one per year together... I told him that at least this year we could get good seats and preferred parking in the handicapped section.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

I just hope and pray he is well enough.

Well, I'm on the superbowl watch and have to get the kids fed and satisfied before gametime. Go PANTHERS!!!!

Howdy, fellow Bill-watchers!

Here's the latest scoop on our horner little Jester:

He was moved into a rehab place on Monday. The hospital folks told him he'd have to arrange transport, so he rode in the back of a friend's LIMO (since he can't really sit up)!! OY!! It wasn't good. But once he got settled in a bit, the folks at the home talked to his insurance and told them it's a medical necessity to have an ambulance, so now he's approved for a non-emergency ambulance transport! YAY.

The new rehab place is in the same hometown as his girls, so at least he's near enough to them to get to see them whenever IG will bring them over. It's actually a chronic care facility mostly occupied by older folks, so naturally, our Bill is quite popular with the staff and ladies. heehee <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" /> Anyway, he's talking about becoming the nursing home chaplain and joking around about with his housemates--they come to visit him, and he wheelchairs around and talks to them.

The physical therapists (PTs) at this new place say that they are going to follow doctor's prescribed orders only, so he will probably only be able to sit up at 45 degree angle--no more sitting up for almost an hour in the wheelchair! That was KILLING him! So, YAY!!! So far, he does not have a computer or email or internet access, but as soon as we can figure out how, he'd like everyone to have his address at his rehab home so you'all can write...send cards, flowers, baloons, etc. I was thinking of a lovely bouquet of blown up, pointy, colorful baloons from the Kingdom of Caerlon...what do you think??

So...keep praying for Bill, but he is coming along. Next big event is Friday: he's having surgery on his other leg, and having rods and screws put in place. "Great" I told you, "You'll get screwed again on the weekend, and I'll probably be alone watching a Disney movie!" He giggled over that until he said "Stop! Stop!"

I'm trying to figure out how to print this thread so I can read it to him, so pray for our internet computer here at the office. It's messing up. And pray for me to figure it out so Bill can be uplifted by all our thoughts.

Thanks guys! LOVE YOU ALL!!

Thanks again for the update. Why not copy and paste each post onto a MSWord or WordPerfect document? Or use whatever text program you have... It would only take a few minutes, even if you did it post-by-post. I've noticed if one tries to copy and paste the entire thread, some of the HTML things get weird.

Tell Bill I'm glad he's making such good progress and add me to the list of those jealous he's getting "some action" <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" /> on Friday, LOL. It looks like he's blooming where he's planted among the older folks!

Yes, it must be pointy balloons.

Tell the Jester that I miss him. I hope he's getting better. And the children and I pray for him daily.

Hey, folks

Yet another quick update on our favorite Jester person. Bill had to have his surgery postponed because (get this) his surgeon wanted him to come in for a pre-surgery appointment and his insurance would not pay for the ambulance to take him to the appointment! Boy, are they [censored]!

Anyway, he got it all straightened out and his surgery is tommorrow (Friday). He should be in the surgery center until Monday, and then back home on Monday. He will need to stay at his current health care facility until his surgeries heal and until his pelvis and back are more healed...then he'll be able to move to the rehabilition place and start his rehab. Oy! It sounds like an awfully long road ahead.

I have read all your posts to Bill, and they just cheer him up something fierce, so if you can, please write or call his cell for Valentines Day, and lets show him how much we love him and how much he is being thought of and prayed for.

Thanks!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
