Let's face it. There are some things you can not do. I found one tonight.

It created a great hair faux pas.

You can not do you own paint-on hair highlights. You might get lucky and be able to use the frosting cap and do your own hair. But paint on highlights....I don't think so.

So, now, instead of brown with blonde highlights.....I'm a redhead? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> You know, if you really mess it up, you've gotta do something fast and there is no such thing as an emergency hair appointment at 9 p.m. on a Saturday night.

No such luck. I am sure this mistake will cost me about $100 to get fixed to my satisfaction and I will have to baby my hair not to fry it.

Think I'll let it gror 4-8 wks and go to someone recommeded by a friend and tell them what look I'm after and see if it is possible to highlight and lowlight it to get to a more blonde form of my natural color but not this color. Want a warm dark blonde. Not a strawberry blonde.

My 11yo son noticed it but didn't say anything. You could see him thinking and wondering. My daughter lectured it. She said Bennie, the woman who cuts her hair, would tell me I'm killing my hair. I didn't tell her hair is already dead. But I know all this processing isn't good for it.

Oh well, it's just hair. Not cosmetic surgery.

Hair dying is tricky! LOL

I had dyed my hair blond for a long time and decided to dye it more my natural color. Well, it turned out the color of charcoal! LOL LOL On the instructions that came with the dye was an 800 number. I called them and they helped me alot. Told me what products to get to lighten it! Why don't you try doing that?? It's free!

I thought I would stop dying my hair for a while but my husband is a foot taller than me and keeps telling me how much gray is in the top of my hair! LOL

Red hair is groovy - brings out that fiery 'Irish' in ya!
I used to have shades of red in my hair... till it all started turning grey..........

I'm thinking I'll enjoy it for a bit and then do something about it. There is not much time this week to do anything about it. And I really do think I'll take it to a professional to deal with it. I'm afraid that doing anything about it will only make it harder for her to fix. But she'll set me back $65. She was recommended by a friend who is a former hairdresser.

I spent one summer as a redhead. It was ok. Looked kind of like Molly Ringwald in 16 Candles.

I'm supposed to get to see the Diplomat next month. I don't know if I'll find the money before that trip of if he'll have to look at roots.

Boy, I wish I could do my own highlights! I sets me back $150 every 4-5 weeks for foils and a trim!! Ouch!!!

Gee, I don't know anyone that is a stylist. Ok, maybe G and then there's Nikko across the river from us, but other than that... Cripes G won't even cut my hair!!! I have to use the flowbee. Suction is GOOD!!!

G had me help her with the highlighting gig awhile ago, ya know where ya put on the hat [she does, I don't wear hats] type device and pull [my part of the process] the hair [hers] thru with the knitting needle jobby hookey madoo. Zippy didn't do too well with that. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" /> I kept getting brain matter. Maybe going in just a bit too far.

I remember when V tried to color her own hair to get back to mouse brown, first it was the black widow look [oops, too dark chicky] Then she went to lighten it, farmers from the country started hanging out at the house waiting to bail the straw.

I was at an EMS convention where one of the guys touched up his hair to get rid of the gray that night and was sweating black down his brow. Now, that's a turn on for me.

Zippy, women who color their hair make sure they do it right before some big even. Case in point, I have not one but TWO soirees this week. A casual cocktail supper at a home in one of the most prestigious neighborhoods (if you call Belle Meade that) in the state. It is the Patron's Party before a fundraiser for my son's school. Then I have the auction for the school three nights later.

The highlights were for that. The dye is because I sure screwed up the highlights.

TR--I do my own--I go to Sally's get the Quick White powder lightener and the L'Oreal Developer #30, I use an old tooth brush and apply it the different area's I want the highlight's leave it in for about 10 to 15 minutes, wash it out w/ the Clairol Shimmering Light's Conditioning Shampoo, and use the Ion's deep conditioner--


I will not use the caps--as they are way to painful--

TR--So the real question would be --what shade hair coloring did you use--and how long did you leave it in? I don't usually leave it in for as long as they recommend--I've seen the results--

The funniest thing was watching my son's reaction when he first saw it. You could tell he was taking it all in but he never said a word. Smart little fellow. My daughter was more negative but has said she kind of likes it. It's a bit vivid but not too bad. But, then again, I was a redhead once before - but only for one summer.

Been there, done that. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> I was never a redhead, but have had a couple of pink streaks once! Can't remember if I was trying to change my blonde hair to brown or my brown hair to blonde, but somehow ended up with some pink. I've also had to spend quite a bit of money "fixing" home mistakes! I haven't done my hair myself for a long, long time... not since the last time my home streaks went haywire. Now, I just pay the money for someone else to do it or I go a la natural! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

... at least it's not GREEN like the poor lady in that TV commercial...
