Sorry, couldn't resist ... for those of you who watch Seinfeld re-runs and know what the subject relates to.
Actually my plea is for a spare prayer, not square; I am applying for a full-time job with benefits and really want it. I've been making less since starting college than I made before I went back to school and this is actually my OLD job where I made good money and had lots of perks and a casual nice office atmosphere... would love the job again!

I heard there's a company called "Kra-merica" that's hiring, something having to do with Oil Tanker Bladders...or you could go work for Art Vandeleigh, who I believe is an Architect... ...I LOVE seinfeld references....
Seriously, good luck with getting the job.

Well I thought I left on good terms ...
I just called to touch base and make sure my resume was received ... the manager told me they are doing some interviews today (I was not contacted to set up an interview) and that they were leaning toward a guy that handles their advertising account with a vendor ...
darn it
I interview next week to fill a position in the office I work in now, should pay more than I make now, but it is still only part-time and no benefits. I have put so many resumes out in the past few weeks ... getting dejected.

I know all about how tough it is out there. I was there for a long time. Took me nearly a year to find a fulltime job with benefits. The one I took pays about what I made in 1990.
I'll pray for you.
In my office, they recently completed one round of interviews. I missed the first round of interviews by just one point on the register. I had a score of 75 and you had to have a 76 to get the interview. But there is the next round and my app is in personnel for reevaluation and I should pick up a point or two.
The whole trying to find a job or a better job thing stinks.

I can never resist a Seinfeld reference, and had to open this thread. Good luck on the job hunt. I am starting grad school this Fall in the hopes that I can find a fairly well paying job in my field. Being a single mom changes the whole thing - suddenly a teaching salary just doesn't cut it. I hope you are led to a fabulous job that works out well for you!

I love fast cars. Keep that in mind when I say this...
Elaine is being chased by dogs because she has some kind of meat in her coat pocket. As she's running from the dogs, I catch a pretty solid glimpse of this silver car. I recognize it, jump up from my recliner, and exclaim "Dude! It's a Mitsubishi Starion!"
Anyways.... my wife thought that was very amusing.

Well, I should hear soon about the in-house job. I also have an application ready to mail for another job; not too many hours, but better pay.
I pray for help in understanding God's plan for me. Maybe I didn't get called on the other job because the next one is much better for me... let's see if I'm right. I'm sure God is.

Am praying for you as well!
Also...FYI..Art Vandalay is also an importer/exporter who specializes in latex!
Anybody remember that one?
I think that'd be an exciting field to be in

Will someone please explain why they post ads for great jobs in the paper, but then have already decided on someone before the deadline to apply?!? GRRRRRR
I haven't even heard on the internal job ... I know it was down to me and one other contestant ... I mean applicant ...
I have been getting so many kicks in the stomach lately; not sure what to think if I don't get this promotion. I know there are jobs out there; but apparently they are filled before the ad hits the paper!!

Sometimes an employer is required to 'advertise' a job to show that they looked at an appropriate number of candidates before making a hiring decision - even if they already know who they want to hire.
Sad but true.
There is a good job out there for you.
I work with the unemployed on a daily basis. I am not sure things are that much better. I do know that, with no unemployment insurance extensions in place, the unemployment figures do look better. But a lot of that is cosmetic.

I guess some things are a life's lesson in letting go and letting God.
I did get the in-house promotion, I have a little better pay, my own office, but no benefits and only 30 hours. Been doing okay and figured I would just have to pursue some freelance work to make ends meet quicker.
Got a call a few weeks ago about a position that I applied for in April. Didn't call back right away; sort of comfortable here. Got another call. Figured fine, I'll interview for the experience. Told them I'm happy where I am, that unless they could offer really good pay and benefits I'd stay where I was.
Turns out, they CAN offer really good pay and benefits.
I start in 3 weeks.

Just wanted to say congratulations!

All I can say to that is...."Serenity now!" [ June 29, 2004, 03:58 PM: Message edited by: Ms.O ]
