First time in four years. Didn't catch a damn thing but it didn't matter.

Didn't have to worry about being home for dinner

Did't have to explain why I was late getting home.

Didn't have to worry about anything but where all the fish were hiding.

Felt Pretty good

Hi WIWH,
I've taken up fishing again myself. Didn't catch anything until the 4th trip. Got a nice bass and my son and friend caught pickerel. Bass were hitting red and the pickerel were hitting purple. Have fun !

But I think I'll stick to the regular old fishing for now

Brought 3 of my DD's to a girlscout fishing derby this past weekend. Got wet and cold but had a blast.

Hey, my 6 YO has been begging me to go fishing.
Where do you fish, we could go together.
Do your girls have fishing poles?
I know my 4 YO girly girl would have nothing to do with fishing or touching worms. Yuck!

Drop me an e-mail if you want to set something up. We can arange a time and place.

Anyone else that wants to join is welcome too.

My 3 and 5 year old were playing with the worms. In fact I think they may have named them

If your 4 yr old has no interest in actually fishing, I'm sure she will still have loads of fun.

If your refering to worms or fish, you don't need to worry about it

I live right by Round Valley. Do kids need a permit to fish in NJ? GG could come and we could make a weekend of it.

No Sunrise I don't make my own but maybe I'll have to keep that in mind next time I need a hobby.

I did a little checking and Round Valley is supposed to have some of the best fishing in NJ.

NJ state law is anyone 16 or older requires a license.

Any nonresident (GG) can get a 2 day license for a few bucks. If only kids are fishing then you don't need to worry.

June 12 is fish for free day but that may only be NJ residents. No license required.Kids under 16 don't need a license anytime.(I can't make 6/12 anyway)

I have lots of available dates that I can do this and I have no problem helping as many as I can with the slimy things as well as teaching what I can. I may also be able to provide some supplies if needed.

If I can do it with my 4 girls, a few extra won't make much of a difference.

Dawn, are we still talking about fish with gills? Or are we back to Java’s fish? ‘Cause sometimes, when you want to practice catch and release, it can be hard to get them off your hook and back into the pool.

LOL..i was actually referring to the fishie in the brook

although sometimes its hard to get the other fishie off the hook as well

I have always loved fishing. I used to have a great Irish setter who loved to go fishing with me. I would go out and dig worms and she would help. she would actually sniff the ground and do some of the digging for me and she would get so excited when I founde one and put it in the bucket. then when we went fishing she would set a point on where the line went in the water and never waver until a fish was on the line, she would get so excited!!! I miss that gteay daog. she lived until she was 16 YO!!!

It might be just what I need to get off the hook and back into the pool

The only down side is I won't get to do any fishing myself but when a little one catches a fish, especialy when it's their first, I enjoy that much more than catching any myself.

Summertime after a rainy day I would go out with a flashlight looking for them but you had sneek up un them and be quick to catch them. It was actually kinda fun if you don't mind sneaking around in the dark with a flashlight. If I tried it now, I would probably be looking at some time, or at least community service!
