My wife will not send in her financial statement so that we can set a court date to get a divorce. It's been way to long now and my lawyer says that it'll take even longer wait during the summer. I don't understand her and I hate waiting for her to make a move. I've put up with her drinking, her disfunctional family and her inability to see what's important in life. I did it thinking I could change her and now I realize it was just a waste of time. I hate her. If I never see or hear from her again, it'll be too soon. You want to change your name at work, that's great. Let's get on with it. All I have to say is that when I see you years from now and you have that drained, miserable look on your face and you end up with some poor sap that thought you were something special, just know that I'll be laughing inside and loving every minute of it. Nothing extraordinary is possible, right? Keep telling yourself that--I'm counting on it. I'm also counting on the fact that I'll be happier without you and that my life will so much richer in ways that you couldn't begin to understand.

Hi C, I agree with the other replies. Don't waste too much time dwelling. Get the venting out of your system, then get you out of your system. By your system, I mean your daily routine. Do something different today, this weekend, and/or this month. Do something you want to do. Get together with friends and family. I am sure they love you and want you to be happy again soon. Many good times and new memories are in your future. Have fun, enjoy, and start your "richer" life.
