Had Chinese for dinner tonight. My fortune cookie says
"Don't expect romantic attachments to be strictly logical or rational!"
Wow did that guy at the couner know me or something.
Although my attachment isn't very romantic anymore, it is illogical and irrational.

Hey Wish,
I was told one time to read your fortune cookie and then add "in bed" to what you have read!!!

I've gotten plenty of the standard fortune cookie messages, but two I found to be particularly timely - and I keep them taped to my computer monitor.
When I was contemplating leaving my first "real" job after 12 years, I got a fortune cookie that said, "Now is the time to try something new". I quit my job shortly after and found a great new job a few months later.
Then, shortly after d-day when I was hurting incredibly, I got a fortune cookie that said, "Listen to your heart and proceed with confidence". It was a good reminder to just slow down during an extremely emotional time.
Sounds like you got a good reminder too!

A couple of years ago, the Diplomat was in town. We took my children to the local Chinese restaurant. Diplomat and my d were sitting across from me and my s was sitting beside me. My fortune said, "Stop looking for happiness. It is right beside you." Son still lights up and reminds me of that to this very day.

I got a fortune cookie very recently. I sent it back. It read "You will have a long life with your spouse." Since I filed for divorce in September, I decided it was a bad fortune cookie and not suitable for eating. I died laughing. The poor waiter was agast.

Anyone read "The Joy Luck Club" by Amy Tan?
In it one of the characters 'talks' about working in a fortune cookie factory after immigrating to the U.S.

Chinese food is a good thing. The Joy Luck Club is a good book.
And as for the Diplomat...well, it's too bad he's so far away. We've been seeing each other for a little over 3 years and we figure that, in about 6 or 7 years, one of us will be free to relocate. Depending on job options at the time. [ June 13, 2004, 11:29 AM: Message edited by: cinderella ]

We had chinese food at work. I brought my fortune cookie home to eat later. I went out and whe I came home found dog had eatten cookie and left the fortune laying on the floor with a couple of crumbs.
It said...
"You will earn a deserved promotion in your company"
Does that mean my dog gets my fortune? Will he be my new boss?

DD4 chose chinese for her 4th birthday dinner Monday night. I'll see how many fortunes I can collect.
STBX's should be a fun one!

Hello. My name is Cinderella. And I am an addict. I have an addiction to playing MahJong on my computer.
And at the end of some of the games, you get a cyber-fortune cookie. My last two have said:
You will be loved my many in your old age.
Good news will come to you from a good friend.
So, if you add, 'in bed' to them, just what does this mean.....?
I am confused. Do you know where I can go for rehab....and just what should I be rehabed from?
So confused.

Latest MahJongg fortune:
You display the traits of charm and dignity.

That may be true but do we necessarily want to add other words to that?

Hello, My name is WIWH and I'm an addict. I'm addicted to MB forums.
And lately it has been causing absurd cravings for chinese take out.
And Ciderella, You can add the words to about anything and still find a meaning behind it. If you need help, I'll try to come up with something.

((((((WIWH))))))
Thank you very much. I try hard. I really do.
I spend 7.5 hours each day on the phone trying to help the unemployed people of Tennessee. As a disembodied voice on the telephone, we poor government employees take it on the chin sometimes.
However, I try to do my job with cheer and humor. (One of my personal goals is to get most of them to laugh at least once during the ordeal of filing a claim.)
Today, one of the men I talked to said he would like to send me some flowers. I just kindly told him thank you but that I could not accept gifts from the claimants. Shucks, though, I missed the chance to tell him to send my supervisor a note telling him how nice I was.
Charm and dignity - just add a sense of humor and that would be a great set of traits.
I think I'll go be proud of myself now.
Thanks!!!

Latest from that good old crumbling cookie!
Take out with Grandma, parents and Sis. All want to know latest about me and STBX and I open a fortune cookie that says
"Someone from your past is returning to steal your heart!"
So much for wanting to know about STBX, now they want to know who's returning
