Hello,
Let me first say that I used marriage builder's about 5 years ago and it helped me very much. Now this time it's not about me, but my dad. He is 58, he was married for 15 years and he was always very faithful. His wife - whom I got along with wonderfully - has had an affair and loves her new found free live. She still tells him she wants it to work - then goes to dinner and a movie and bed with another man???
Anyway, I tried to get him to come here and he isn't a fast typer and seems reluctant to come. He is still very hurt and desperatly wants someone to love, someone to TRUST. I am hoping that If I post a few things about him and his problems then he will feel more comfortable posting here. He lives in Southern California and all of the family lives in the midwest, so his is all alone out there and can't move due to his job. He wants to start dating, but can't really find a good place to even meet nice, honest women. My sister and I have been the people he has vented to, but it is starting to be more than we can handle- we both have families with young children and we can't be on the phone all night. I would like him to be able to come here and vent. This is a great resource and can really help. Any advice?

First it's nice that you want to help dad, but this is his problem with his wife and they need to solve it!!!

I can understand that you feel overwelmed by this and his venting at you, that is yours and we can help you with that.

Why is it that he is looking at dating? is he divorced? If not dating should be the last thing on his mind.

The divorce should be final by next month - if they can agree on a property settlement. They each have their own place. She will call him and stop by and talk to him about working it out, just in time to leave again. I think that she just wants to play cat and mouse with him to see how much she can get him to do for her. He is a very much the giver in the relationship, and she uses his feelings to get what she needs. There really is no chance of them working this out -it is way, way past repair. He needs to move on with his life and he knows that. He has been seperated from her since January. If he started dating someone and they liked each other, he would no longer speak to his soon to be X. She is so mean and hurtful, but he keeps returning in the hope that she will change and want to save their marriage. He is willing to forgive her for her past choices, but she doesn't see the affair as something she needs to apolize for.
