I'm starting a topic. It seems to me that people "these days" are so into... entertainment and fantasy. We've got tv. We've got radio. We've got gadgets of all sorts.
PURSUE THE FANTASY!! ENTERTAIN YOURSELVES!!
That's just the opposite of dedicating and commiting one's life to caring for real people.
I think the whole culture is set up to destroy marriages and destroy families - because it's all about ENTERTAINMENT...
I think we need to turn off the tv's and quit being so self-indulgent and to recognize entertainment... to the outrageous extent people have taken it "these days"... as evil.
It's just the opposite of getting real, being real, and being focussed on a commitment to care for others.
People in the culture weren't so decadent and self-indulgent in the "good ole days".... when life wasn't centered in ENTERTAINMENT!!!
People don't have a clue, "these days", about self-sacrifice and living to please others instead of one's self... culturally.

I also believe that today's entertainment gives people a false sense of reality when they see what the fantasy life of TV Internet etc... is like.
Many people start to believe that real life can be like that too.

Not only that,my pet peeve is that we are being brainwashed into thinking that we have to be happy ALL THE TIME and if we are not,well,there's something terribly wrong and so we must go out and get our happiness in any way we can despite who we hurt in the process.ME ME ME! I want it all and I want it now,and,I don't want to work for anything,I want it brought to me on a silver platter too.
What else.Well,I am just not good enough the way I am.Why? Because I am being told every day that I should have:
-whiter teeth
-bigger breasts
-smaller size
-shinier hair
-designer clothes
-to wear thongs every day
- to buy lipstick that stays on for a week
-longer eyelashes so I can wave to the person across the street with them(lol)
-to take a pill for everything from eating disorders to having a 36 hour erection(ouch)
-to be someone I am not and buy into someone elses reality and image,etc,etc.
It's so obvious to me but I fear for young women and men who don't know that they are succumbing to the daily pressure of not being themselves.I don't watch TV much anymore,it's garbage and painful to watch.I like the older shows like Andy Griffiths and Brady Bunch.LOL So wholesome and sweet.I miss that.
Watching Mr.Roger's Neighborhood is like watching a plant grow compared to the shows on today's TV.Another reason why I don't let my kids watch that much TV either or certain shows.Way too fast and stressful.Kids rarely,IMO,learn anything significant from them too which is a sorry testament to todays' programming.BOO! HISS! Bad TV!

It's gotten SO bad, lol, that now we have "reality tv"... the ultimate fantasy... like people are being real... as they realize they are being televised. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> Hi Octobergirl, You got it!
