Hello, All and especially NinaToo & CJ:

I have some bad news. For any who remember me from 3 years ago, Nina, CJ and Anna2000, I have 3 little miniature dachshunds. This morning at 1:30, my little pup, Schatze died in my arms while at the vet. He was perfect this morning and this afternoon, but this evening was very sick. There was nothing the vet could do. I am completely out of my mind with grief and I really would rather not be alive. Ever since my ex left, my life has been a shambles and this is the worst thing yet, because my dogs and my cats have been what has gotten me through these last years.

I have cried all night and need to now, but I am all dried out.

I am going to bed. i do not know what to do.....

Oh, I am so very sorry. Yes, pets can be real family, and losing them is so hard.

Hugs to you...

The Rainbow Bridge Poem

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Dear kam6318, myfamily2 & Elan:

Thank you for coming to console me and thank you very much for the poem, elan. I loved him as much as any parent loves a human child and I am heart sick this morning.

I buried my little baby Schatze in my front yard, with his last chew toy and 3 of his favorite treats, right in front of a gigantic rock so I will always be able to go straight to him when I want to talk to him.

God Bless You all,

I'm so so so so sorry to hear that!!! As an animal lover, it's heart breaking, but when you're going through hell and your pets are the only creatures in your life that express unconditional love (and I truly believe it is love) for you, it's soul shattering.

I have a cat who I joke about being my familiar... He's so tuned into me, is such a remarkable and smart animal, unlike any cat I've ever owned before. Thankfully he's still young, so barring any freak of nature occurance, he's going to live a while yet, but I dread losing him. I dreaded losing him before the drama with H happened, and now I dread it even more afterward. Sounds kind of sad to say it, but this cat is my one link to reality right now.

Having just lost a dog this summer myself, I can relate, and feel your pain. I have several dogs, and they are SO special to me.

Maybe this will help - something we've done when we've lost one of our dogs is to plant a tree in his memory. As the tree grows over the years, we can watch it and remember the special bond we had. It is comforting somehow, to think that in some small way our special friend lives on.

GB, I am soooo sorry! I know what it is like to lose your dear puppy. Lord knows, it is NOT easy.
What helped me get thru my pet loss was to put up a PERMANENT Memorial Tribute to both our doggies.
www.in-memory-of-pets.org is a site where you put up a photo and a short Tribute, and you select a song to play. It's very moving and beautiful..
May the Lord be with you and comfort you in this time of loss, my friend and fellow animal-lover.
Sincerely,
TDL (Harold)

Andy-Panda!!!

I am so sorry to hear of your little schatze's passing! You have my deepest, deepest sympathies and hugs and hugs and hugs! I can't believe it; it's such a shock. I know you love your little one's more than life itself sometimes, so this must be a HORRIBLE blow for you. Dearest Andy, you MUST know that your darling doodle would want you to be there to love and care for the other two puppies. They NEED you now!

I'll call you as soon as I can. Love you and care for you more than typing on MB can say!

Prayers and hugs,

A Dog's Prayer

"Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me. Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements. And I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.

Though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are my god and I am your devoted worshipper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I might stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the great master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest --- and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands."
------------

Our family's most recent dog loss was 9/15/04. You and yours are in our thoughts and prayers. It's tough......very tough!

Dear Ragamuffin,

Thank you so much for this beatuiful poem. The loss of my beloved little boy has torn me up and I am so lonely for him, I cannot express it. His loss has opened up my heart in ways I did not expect, and I am more thoughtful and careful, because I have learned that I will never know if that harsh word (which I did NOT have with Schatze) will be the last; his death was as unexpected as the Sun turning green tomorrow morning.

I miss him with all my heart, mind, soul and spirit.

God Bless You,
George
