An alcoholic hides who they are when you first meet them. I am wondering if that person you see then is the real them or is the one you see after you get close to them is the real one?
Or heck, are they neither of them.
I have read some of the alcohol pertaining articles on this site, but haven't see that.
I would appreciate any feedback on the subject.
Thanks,
Sadiemae37

Sadie,
For me I would have to say, I am truly myslef when I am not drinking. I use to drink to numb all the hurt I had inside and that caused me to hurt out and lash out at the person I loved the most. I am on day 20 of nothing to drink, and with all the counseling I am getting I am finding out who I really am. ( I did not start heavly drinking until about 3 months ago) Sober I would never hurt my husband or our children. Drunk, I did more than hurt them. I almost destroyed my husband.
Now, I spend alot of time soul searching and know that I define who I am.
I hope this helps a little.
