How do you handle announcing at work you are getting a divorce. Who do you tell? In what order? Do people think less of you?

Hmm. Good question. I've told only a few close friends here. But as nothing is yet final (no papers filed yet) I've not told my boss or let everyone else know. Once there is a date, I will tell my boss.

My immediate supervisor was my second phone call. Other coworkers were told as I ran on them. I tend to blab everything to anyone who will listen and some who won't.

I was in tears for 3 months straight, so everyone knew something was going on, if they didn't hear it directly from me.
It's your business and you can choose to share it with anyone you want.

Just Kidding!
It depends on your work environment. I had to let a few people know because of change of address, tax changes and changes in commuting costs from moving from home.
Other than that, Just my friends!
It's hard not to tell people when they ask about family and house stuff.

Thanks everyone.
Best bet seems to be when you file. Then its a fact, for you and your co-workers.
My plan would just be to state the fact to a few close workers, state my pain, and not get into details about it.

You should inform Human Resources if your husband is on the record as your next-of-kin.
