How about this chere:
"I would like nothing better than to accept a date with you because I've been thinking about you....but I'm really worried about the job complications. I just can't say yes no matter how much I like you, until you're not my boss. And if you fire me...I'll kill ya."

But but but, what if backfires and he transfers me to another group without asking me????

Girls, you know as well as I do that this will just turn him on more. He will be unwavering, persistent and all the more charming. He will eat this up! Executive types love this kind of funny, "kiss my [censored], or I'll kick yours" kind of talk from a girl.
What kind of advice are you giving here Star*fish?

Can I just butt in to add the fun statistic that: among people who get re-married less than 2 years after their divorce is final, the divorce rate is 80%?
Our church's Seperation/Divorce Care director refers to this as the "vulnerability window". Recovery takes time.

Worst date I ever had....whacko Rodney who turned out to be a real psycho (really! very scary). First clue: 30 minutes into the date he stops at the 7-11 and buys a "Brides" magazine and beer. Hands me the magazine and pops the beer with a smarmy smile. If he hadn't squealed off so fast I'd have jumped out of the car right then. It went downhill from there!

Now ya see, those are the kind of incidents I have been able to avoid by not dating. It does have it's benefits.
Jeez! And buying you a "Brides" magazine on your first date certainly is telling about dear old Rod. Pretty high self esteem, or maybe just delusional. Like we're all so desperate to experience marriage again. Not to mention his DUI habits, what a catch! LMAO!
Was that frog #1, Star?

Yep...in a long line of frogs. But I was never much of a "dater" even when I was young. I had a long term boyfriend from 17 to 20. Married the second serious one (lasted six months) .....and the third one(21 years). But before, after and in between...I had alot of first dates...frogs galore.

What ever happened to the age old advice of: Never date anyone from work?
Not to rain on anyone's parade here, but career-wise, and looking at the big picture, you date a couple of times and discover he's not really the kind of guy you want in your life, and he perhaps loves the heck out of you and feels jilted. Um.... wouldn't that be a CLM??? (Career Limiting Move?). How about you find another job FIRST and then date the guy?

Aloha Jo,
Well I got gooze bumps when I read your thread. Of course the fact that Kenny Rogers was singing 'Lady' in the background while I was reading your thread was sure a sign that this is a good thing? Right now Kenny is bellowing out that 'your love is the only thing I need and besides me is where I want you to be.....because my love there's something I want you to know....'
Ok, you know I'm not singing that to you but someone may be, eh?

Whoa - thread started on Oct. 31. Scarry indeed!
So what has transpired since then?
Here are the thoughts that ran thru my mind - in no particular order - as I read this thread:
Yikes! A third party sexual harassment allegation in the making!
You gals sure do have a good sense of humor!
48K people is a LOT - surely you can find another position out from under the dotted line - then go for it!
He's recently divorced? Was infidelity involved? Kids? Dogs? Does he get seasick?
I started dating about two months after my divorce, almost two years after WS moved out. I was ready. I have no regrets today.
OK, back to Jo. I strongly recommend that IF you accept invitations from Mr. Goodbar that you do so with the intention of having a good time and getting to know him better - duh. During this time, consider offers from other guys on their merits, i.e., do not necessarily date this guy exclusively.
If you feel that a "relationship" has potential, I really believe you cannot work under him in the organization. A prima facie third party sexual harrassment claim could be made by another employee, e.g., "you have to sleep with the boss to get ahead in this outfit!". It doesn't matter if it's true or not - it's the appearance. If this guy is a competent senior exec, surely he knows this.
Anyway, that's my initial reaction based on very little info. But - I am VERY HAPPY to hear you are progressing with your recovery. This is a sure sign, no matter what you end up doing with this sitch.
So, what's the latest?
