Prayers needed for my XH who learned just Wednesday from me that his house (singlewide), where we used to live (he hasn't been living there but all of his stuff was there) was burned in a fire. Arson.

I am probably the last person he'd want to get news like that from, but I really thought that the fire department or SOMEONE would have contacted him by then, the fire happened a full week before I told him.

Anyway, I do feel really bad that this has happened, fire is one of my greatest fears and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. But part of the reason I am hoping for some prayers for him is that I'd like to see whomever did this brought to justice and quick. Because I knew about it before him, and live only a couple miles away, I am SURE that he thinks I did it. And he will be horrible to deal with until the crime is solved. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" />

I am really suprised no one had contacted him. One of the first things they should have done was get ahold of him for a number of reasons. Being an arson fire it would have been even more important to get ahold of him right away. FD really dropped the ball on that one.

Not that you should have to, but to make him easier to deal with ( and to keep you from being a suspect ) I hope you can account for your time and location.

There must be something in the air. A recently divorced friend had a house fire on 10/30.
Her boyfriend went back in for a cat and is still in critical condition. And the house will take at least 6 months to repair.

In our area, last week was fire safety week at the schools. Even as adults, we need reminders.
Sleep with each bedroom door closed. Keep doors closed while you are away (this save two rooms in my friends house). If there's a fire, close all doors you can, esp. your exit door since oxygen feeds the fire.

Friends alarm system called the fire dept. 4 minutes after they themselves called. So, call 911 immediately.

Just adding my 2Cents.

I was home, the kids were sleeping, so no one can really vouch for me being there. Westley called me just after 10:30 pm, I was watching Law & Order. I stepped outside for 30 seconds to see the lunar eclipse but besides that, hadn't left the house since I got home with the kids at 8:30 pm after picking them up from ex's (his parents' house) with no incident. Haven't been near the place in months, last time when I visited my former neighbor (across the road) in August. It was so grown over you couldn't see the mobile home from the road.

But though I should have stayed out of it, I figured I'd want to know if I were him. So what I said was, "Have you been out to the trailer lately?" and his instant response was a demanding "WHY?" ... rattled me a bit, and I figured he knew but wanted to trick me into admitting something, so I said "Has anyone ... gotten ahold of you?" I was choosing my words carefully at this point. He said "No, why?" and I told him he should call the **** Fire Department. He was less defensive at this point, and asked why again. I told him I heard that K {brother-in-law} had gotten a call from the **** Fire Department about a trailer fire on ***** Road and he told J, who told me. I didn't realize that Humperdinck was in shock at this point, he just kinda walked into the house without saying anything else.

I heard from his mother this morning that he lost everything and broke down crying at the sight of it. I'm curious of course, I lived there for many years; but I'm not going anywhere near that place.

It is horrible and I really feel bad for anyone that happens to, but with our history I am concerned about retaliation. I was home (just a few miles from there) with two sleeping kids so not the most solid alibi.

Just remember the chain of people you got the news through. If the police do start looking at you you will want to be able to follow that chain back to the source

Well the "good" news for me is that this happened at a time when I was at work and both Westley and I have rock solid alibis ... it didn't happen at 11 pm, it was 11 am on that Wednesday. I talked with my former neighbor over the weekend. He said there was 1/2 hour to 45 minutes of continous explosions during the fire, I guess from Humperdinck's Y2K ammo stockpile.

He hasn't so much as looked at me since I told him about it. The kids come out of the house without him when I show up to pick them up.

Well, I still feel for him, but thankfully you do not have to worry about being looked at as a possible suspect.
