Just wondering if anyone has read some good books that helped in their healing.

I have read the following that were a Godsend:

Women Who Love Too Much

Safe People by Townsend/Cloud

Self Matters by Dr Phil

Would love some suggestions and maybe some excerpts.

"Growing Through Divorce" by Jim Smoke. A most excellent book and one that worked for me when I was all alone in the darkest period of my life. I highly recommend it to anyone. It's available at just about every Christian Bookstore out there.
JMHO.

--------- I just Googled it - everyone from Wally-Mart to Amazon.com have it - it's less than $15,- and here is what Amazon.com had to say about it:
Forced to accept drastic changes, make lifestyle-altering decisions, and develop new coping skills, many people going through divorce are left with little hope for the future and even less energy for daily living. Is recovery possible? Will peace and joy ever return? Drawing on insights garnered through years of helping people survive divorce, Jim Smoke offers God's wisdom and time-proven, step-by-step guidance for anyone experiencing divorce, including:
-- Committing the situation to God through prayer
-- Helping children adjust to the new situation
-- Seeking legal advice
-- Adjusting to income issues
-- Contemplating remarriage
Along with discussion questions, readers will appreciate the "working guide" section that helps them take stock of their situation, evaluate their state of mind, and handle the day-to-day details and stress of living.
-------------------------------
I hope this helps you.
Sincerely,
SDLOTR

The Fresh Start Separated/Divorced Recovery Workbook really helped me to identify the stages.
As did many codependency books and emotional abuse books.

lockerb---couldn't get the webiste. It brought up an error message.

Thanks for the suggestion everybody---I will check them out.

The counsel in books is so helpful to me. It is like having a close friend who understands you. I thank God that I am not struggling as I once was but still need some direction and encouragement. I would love to start a divorce support group because the pain experienced in divorce can truly do some damage and keep one stuck in the pain.
