Hi everyone. It's been about 2 years since I first posted here in a very uncertain time in my life when my wife had left me. I'm really happy to say that it was only for 2 months and now were back and doing really well fortunetly. It was not an easy road whatsoever, but we worked things out. We went to marriage counseling which actually taught me a little something about myself and made me see things in a different light. I'm so mad at myself now for some of the things I was doing at that time. If anyone is wondering if marriage counseling is worth it, believe me it is. It is so worth it! We bought a new house, new vehicles had some ups and downs like everyone, were even trying to have our first child now <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> Even though it has been 2 years since our meltdown I will never forget what almost happened and how the horror was almost a reality for me. Sure, we still get into arguments and whatnot, but that's marriage. Since then I tell everyone that's about to get married to have a nice wedding, honeymoon, etc. and then make sure that you have a good marriage counselor lined up. I would have never thought that I would have had to go through it neither.
I've been reading some of these posts on here and to be very honest it brought back a lot of bad memories for me and it even made me shed some tears as I really honestly feel for what some of you are going through. If your going through some tough times with the person that you love so much, please no matter what anyone tells you "do what your heart tells you to do" if you dont want to give up the fight, DONT! This is your heart that aches and if your love is as strong as you feel for this person, DO NOT JUST GIVEUP! I did not against all who told me so and it might strip you down some, but it's your heart not theirs. In the end you can say that you fought the good fight, something that, to you, was worth fighting for. I gave my wife her space for the 2 months that she wanted, I was a total wreck. But, I was also persistent in getting me first, then us to counseling and I was persistent in my feelings for her. When I read stuff like an affair "just happened", to me that's bulls**t! It didn't "just happen", there was flirting, there was dinners, etc. No, that person chose to betray you and jeapordize everything because they wanted to "have sex with someone else". That is a very sellfish act. This I really dont know if I could take someone back for if they did this though. This really angers me I guess.
I try to look at everything from a positive stance at first. With marriage, you both had to love each other in the beginning to even take that walk to the alter in front of family, friends, god, etc. Why even go to the alter in the first place if your unsure or unwilling to spend the rest of your life with this "1" person? To me, marriage is sacred it's not a joke. No wonder why we have such a huge percentage rate of divorce. When marriage cant be considered as a sacred/sure thing. Yes, things happen in life I understand this. But, too many people view marriage as a joke of sorts. I thought that I had read somewhere that you will have to go through marriage counseling before you get legally divorced soon and this just might be the best thing yet. Maybe it will cut down on the nonsense. Then when things start falling apart, to a certain extent(i.e-abuse,etc.), you dont just run away, you work through it because remember at first when you you first starting liking/dating this person you sure would've.
These are just my opinions, if they help anyone out here on this board then I feel like I might have done something good. If not, this is how I see it is all. I feel as if I had hit rock bottom 2 years ago and was about to loose it all over something I did not want to happen, and I worked through it and to this day I still work at it because all I ever knew how to do was just love someone way to much, there's nothing wrong with that!
