As my thread title says, I HATE being sick while I'm single. Now, it really wasn't much different when I was married, but AARRGGHH!! I had kind of a mild flu yesterday and was in bed all day. OTOH, it felt good to get the rest and feel better, but OTOH...no one came in to see how I was, and no one made me OJ or soup, and no one took my temperature... I was just laying there alone, tossing and turning, with no one even acknowledging my presence (or lack thereof).
I RARELY if ever get sick. When I do get sick, I take to my bed and remain there until I'm well. And yep, I want to be spoiled a little bit when I'm sick! I'm a baby! I admit it.
Rats. I HATE being sick while I'm single!

I am so very sorry you haven't been feeling well. And I completely empathize with you. If I were anywhere near, I would bring you some chicken noodle soup, some books and magazines, some fruit juice, and sit by your bed with you .
My mother was always wonderful when I was sick. One thing my H did learn from my family was to be caring when someone else was sick (even though his family wasn't like that). It is one of the things that I miss the most about him. He would always know I felt bad, and would bring me stuffed animals, food, juice, blankets, medicine etc. He was wonderful in that way.
Now it's just me, myself, I, and the box of crumpled tissues by the bed
Hang in there, and just work on feeling better. Hugs...........

Thank you both for the sympathy.
Thankfully, I was a sicky person yesterday, but I'm feeling much better today. I actually went out and ran a few errands with my daughter today. Then, this afternoon, I took it easier and wrote some articles and finished my newsletter while sipping tea.
L.I.T., I totally identify with what you said about "Now it's just me, myself, I, and the box of crumpled tissues by the bed". That's just how it felt!! Oh shoot, I can't even remember the last time I was "take to my bed" sick, but I remember thinking yesterday that I would PAY someone to bring me some Jewish Chicken Soup aka penicillin. heehee. My kids both carried on with their life as if nothing was different...and my son even came and asked me if he could have the keys to the car! OY!
Oh well. I'm better. I just hate being sick to begin with, and I hate it when no one NOTICES I'm sick even worse!
CJ
P.S. S&C, thanks for the cyberhug. I've missed ya lately. Want to share an update with us? Or send me an email? Or SOMETHING!!!???

CJ,
Glad you're feeling better and that, looking on the bright side, it forced you to take some time for yourself. But being sick is the one thing I've found in my year of singleness that I hate more than anything else.
Fortunately, I haven't been too sick overall. I get migraines, but have meds and usually can feel better in several hours. But I had a day back before Christmas where I was just really cruddy feeling. I'm guessing a mild flu.
I managed to drive my daughter to school, but thank goodness she was able to get someone to bring her home because I couldn't. I just laid in bed and felt like poo all day.
And it's not that my XH or kids ever took care of me when I was sick (XH made a habit of being gone, because he didn't like being around "sick people"), but at least he was good about making the run to the store for things I needed before he left the house.
I found from this little experience that it is very important to keep the cupboards stocked with chicken broth or noodle soup and boxes of Jello in the event of an small emergency such as this. I didn't have any, and wasn't well enough to go out and get any 'til late that evening, so I lived on tea and water. (My mom always made my sis and I warm, liquid Jello to drink when we were ill. Strange, maybe, but stays down well.)

So glad you are feeling better. I have been sick ALL week. I left work early monday and went to doctor with my daughter. 2 for 1 deal. I couldnt decide to drive to the doctor's, hospital, or the morgue. The doctor was closest so he won.
Daughter had the exact same symptoms and the same progression as me. BUT she was better by Tue nite and I am still sick. I had to go back to Doc thur cause I was still so sick
For 4 days I didnt get off the couch. I had originally taken off Thur and Fri as vacation days so I could study for my ACT test today. I ended up taking 4 sick days and not getting any prep time in for the test.
Sleep and Cough, that was my week
And today I had to take the test and the unsympathetic BIT$%es wouldnt let me have water or cough drops at the desk!!!!!! I said you mean you would rather I cough up a storm and annoy all those in the room than let me have water?
I wasnt allowed a drink until break (2 hours after test started)
But anyway, at least I am up and around now instead of dead on the couch
Fortunately, thank God and my wonderful children (well, they did owe me some favors), they did take good care of me. Daughter made me some soup, got me blankets, went to store. My sweetheart had to work this weekend so I didnt get to see him, and I know he would have taken really good care of me..Not like the nasty X of mine.
Actually, X probably would have brought me a blanket, laced my soup with sleeping pills and went off for day with his GF....who needs him.
well in spite of all the coughing and as lousy as I felt, think I did good on test. keep fingers crossed. I did good last year, just hoping for a higher score as ultrasound program is so competitive.
Glad you are feeling better. We care here
didnt give the car keys out did ya? [ February 05, 2005, 06:03 PM: Message edited by: sunrise1 ]
