I always post about our problems. I wanted to post something I thought was nice that happened today.

Daughter's boyfriend is the lead singer of a local ska band. (If you're unfamiliar with ska, which I was until my kids filled me in, it's generally fast, rather nervous music and there are trumpets and trombones and saxaphones in addition to the normal instruments).

I've never been to one of his shows, but today they did a noon show at our local mall. I buzzed up there after taking the cat to the vet.

They were playing (not as bad as I expected, and they look half-way clean cut if you ignore the piercings). I saw my daughter standing with a group of her friends, so snuck up behind her, and poked her in the back.

She turned around, smiled, and said happily to everyone with her, "That's my mom! Mom, stay and watch the show!".

Told her I was going to, but was going to step back out of the crowd. She gave me a one-armed hug <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> and I left her alone until the show was over.

Once the show was over, she also found her boyfriend's grandma in the crowd and brought her over and introduced her to me.

I was quite impressed. I'd have been mortified if my mom would have shown up at something like that.

You know, it's always a good thing to think about the good things about your child.

Did you follow that?

Like all children, both of mine can be difficult - one is a 14 yo hormonal, emotional mess and the other is going to turn 12 this week so he's soon to be a hormonal ADHD/ODD mess. But they can both be so wonderful.
