Just a little note to wish all the Canucks here a happy thanksgiving.
I know there is a lot of pain for so many here but can we just take a moment to think of one thing for which we are grateful?
It's sad this important holiday gets so overlooked in our country. Maybe the Americans are right to link it to Christmas and yet we have something to be thankful for every day.
I am thankful to be forgiven and growing in freedom. To be developing in my abilities and relaxing more in friendship.
I am thankful that in a world full of chaos, there is love from family, friends and God.
I am thankful for YOU! (Whatever country you are from! )

Blondblossom, you are a lovely writer!
Do you write poetry?
I am thankful for all the Canadians here--they must all be too busy eating turkeys and cranberries and pumpkin pie to add to this thread
Or maybe it's pumpkin pie cheesecake--ooo la la!

Thank you Fresh Start,
No we mostly aren't eating turkey yet, just cranking up for it. And it will be pumpkin pies here, 3 of them. I find that's about the right number with 3 young men in the house.

According to my calendar, it is also Health-Sports in Japan.
And it is Columbus Day (well the day on which it is observed) here in the U.S.
And my calendar also lists something called Discoverers Day for today. I guess Columbus has to share his day with the likes of Erickson, Balboa, Cortez, de Gama and all the others. If I'm wrong, someone let me know.
I will try to find the pumpkin pie recipe my children love so much. And, did you know, that the little 'pie pumpkins' have a higher sugar content than big pumpkins?

Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes! Yes, I think it's nice that our celebration is in October, as it 'stands on it's own' as a holiday.
I miss my H today as Thanksgiving weekend was the only long weekend of the year that we made no plans. We decided years ago that we would devote that weekend to just us and our kids, and cook a big turkey dinner just for the 4 of us. We always took a photo of us at the dinner table and before we ate each of us would add in what we were thankful for in our prayer.
I am grateful on a daily basis for what I have and always have been. But, going through 3 months so far of separation has made me feel even more blessed about the incredible friends I have who have helped me through this time, and that includes this website! I was lent the MB books by a neighbour, and prior to that hadn't even heard of them. They in turn led me to this website and I can't tell you how fortunate I feel to have 'stumbled' onto it. Everyone who has ever replied to one of my posts, has helped me tremendously, as well as other threads that I have read and replied to.
So...thanks to all of you...!!

(((Kimmy))): you are loved! I am thankful for you.
I am taking a quick break from housework before a family of 5 come to visit us (pray for me--their kids are "boisterous," shall we say? )
Last night, we went to these same friends' house and had a beautiful time visiting together. I guess it turned out to be quite Canadian because there was a woman from New Brunswick, her H from Quebec, another lady visiting from Calgary but hails from Winterpeg (Winnipeg!) and the couple are from Ontario and Quebec and have been missionaries in North West Territories!
Anyway, I don't have time right now but later I will post my buddy's pumpkin pie cheesecake recipe. I might not get to it today--but I hope so. I've never made one--are they challenging?

Freshstart: Cheesecake can be really easy, or really challenging. If you've never tried to make one, start with a 'no bake' one. That means you mix everything together and just freeze.
I have made easy to extremely hard..ie..one time I made a cheesecake that was made with white and milk and dark chocolate, and it ended up being a marble effect inside. But, in addition to that, there was an outside coating that was kind of like 'icing' but again made out of chocolate, etc. So, when you cut a wedge of it, it was like an outside crust with a different inside. It was really rich and very good but it took me all day.
One of the easiest I make is just cream cheese, cool whip, and frozen raspberry juice on an oreo crumb crust. Just a couple other ingredients and it is really tasty. I'll post it soon and you should try it!
