I just wanted to let you guys know that I have been in the hosp. for the past 3 days. Monday, I was told I have type 1 diabetes. As some of you know I am 28 yrs old. I am taking this hard, but its something I have to live with...the shots, 4 times a day..ect..I hope this will make everyone take a quick look at your health. Stress can do some amazing things to your body. Some please be careful, and keep a close eye out. I am not saying that stress caused this, but, I have no family history, or I am not overweight, way under in fact. But stress can make it worse. Just wanted to let you guys know, incase you were wondering where I have been.
God Bless everyone.
Noodles

Oh Noodles-
I wish you all the best. This completely stinks. Please take care of yourself, o.k.? Make sure you take your shots and be sure to watch your diet as well. IT IS NOW TIME TO THINK OF YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!! Your health is the utmost of importance. If you are not healthy who is going to be there to take care of things? Don't let the stress get to you this much. IT is not worth it!!!!!Please take care of yourself....

AWWWW.....Noodles, That sucks...
I've been Type 2 for a couple years now and it's a royal pain in the butt and I'm not on insulin (yet). Fact is.....they still dont know what "causes it". Stress will defineatly raise your BG once you're already diabetic...don't know about causing it, tho. Overweight is a strong indicator for Type 2. I lost 60 lbs and was able to stop taking any meds.....just diet and exercise. But I'm not kidding myself....diabetes is a progressive disease and there is no cure.
So Noodles....Learn all you can about diabetes. There are tons of websites and newsgroups, even some like MB....forums you can ask questions and vent and stuff. I'ts a life altering event, but with the right attitude and effort, I know you'll be around to bounce the great-grand kids on your knee!
Take care..... you're in my prayers.
Lou
PS: It's way early for this, but I know several T-1's with insulin pumps and they LOVE them.....

Noodles,
One more thing, a little warning...
VERY, VERY few non-diabetics know ANYTHING at all about the disease, yet, almost all will have an opinion or some old wive's tale they'll want you to hear. You will be amazed and infuriated by the utter nonsense people will say.(usually while you're eating) MY advice is tell as few people ("real life people",that is)as possible of your condition.
Take care..
Lou

Thank You All for your replies.
Duranie-
Thank you for wishing me the best. Its times and things such as these that make you realize that there really is nothing more than family. I am just thankful that I have my children, my H, and my sister..and my other family.
LeeLee-
Thank you also. I guess sometimes god gives us certian things to make us realize that, one we are human, and there are sometimes more important things than the wrongs that have been done to us. God Bless You too..
middleman-
Thank you too. This does stink, I do wish it would go away..but it won't. Ya know, I know what you mean about "advice" gotten bucket loads already..haha.. I got really sick at work, and they sent me to the hosp, so unfortunately, everyone knows..dang..grin. I will look into the web sites ect..Yes, I will agree that it is a big life style change, I am one who like to be unrestricted..no time schedule..well..guess what..not anymore...I can now give myself the shots..one day of doing it myself..pretty proud of myself since I hate shots..grin..Thanks again..God Bless You..

Dear Noodles
My baby was hospitalised since last week and is now fine and discharged, and that is why I missed your post. I am sorry that you have diabetes. It is very troublesome and I hope you get all the information you can to cure that.
I am not sure if having the pregnancies have anything to do with that. Some women have temporary diabetes while pregnant and that disappears soon after birth; others continue to be diabetic. Can you check on whether that is a cause?
Hope all is better for you - one step at a time?
God bless you
weep

Weep-
Thank you for your concern. How is your baby? Everything ok? I think it is harder when something is wrong with your child rather than yourself. That is the main thing about this that bothers me, will my children get it??? Unfortunately, Mine will never go away, I will be insuln dependant for the rest of my life. Five shots a day. It's scary, but, I cling to the fact that God never gives us more than we can handle...One good thing that has come out of this is, that the ow/oc situation doesn't seem so important anymore. Life it too short and can be snatched away to quick to worry about things such as these. Well, that sounds good, I have to keep reminding myself of that. It does bother me though, that there are so many things that can go wrong with this illness, Is OW sitting there waiting for something to happen to me, so she can take over my life. Big concern of mine.. Parinoid maybe, but still a concern. I hope all is well for you. Thanks again and god bless your family.
Noodles

Hi Noodles:
Nothing more will happen to you if you take extremely good care of yourself. Get lots of sleep, get lots of exercise, eat good food and meditate and pray. Laugh with your kids, sing in the shower, find something artistic and creative to do, fuss over your husband and expect him to fuss over you.
Lighten your burden by lightening up yourself. Act as if, Noodles...act 'as if' you are happy and carefree and it will come to pass. Have some fun, especially with your husband and watch your marriage blossom. Make him grateful he has a second chance with you, make him realize how lucky he is that you were gracious enough to welcome him back into the marriage and that you aren't going anywhere.
So much of it is attitude, Noodles, if not nearly all. Some even say that one can almost 'heal thyself' with attitude and changing their overall take on life. Kind of the glass half full - half empty thing.
I know you will take good care of yourself and come here to work through your angst, knowing we are always here for you.
Catnip =^^=

Dear Noodles,
I just read your post and was shocked to hear your news. Like some of the others, I have a friend who has had Type 1 diabetes since she was a baby and she is living a perfectly normal life at age 50. One of my friend's daughters also has it and she is only 8.
Exercise and healthy foods are the key. I know the insulin sounds horrible, but if you could see the 8-year old giving herself the shots you would see that after the initial shock you will be able to cope. You are so right -- God does not send more than we can handle and if He needs to He helps carry the burden.
And forget about the OW -- you are not going anywhere until the ripe old age of 100 and, with God's help, your H will still be at your side. Let her eat her heart out while you worry about you for a change.
Take good care of yourself and talk to us whenever you need to -- that's what friends are for.
- Heavenly

Jenny- thank you for your prayers.
catnip- It is odd how strangers words come to mean so much to you. But that is how I feel, I feel as though I have aquired a whole group of wonderful friends. I am taking care of myself, I am sure soon this will all become a habit to me and not seem such a big deal. I will have to take your advise and continue playing the happy-the glass is half-full type, until I feel that way for real. I admire your strength and courage, I watch your posts, and read everyone, I may not comment, for sometimes, no wise words hit me. But I do care and read. As for you case with ow, I wish you the very best. Thank you again.
Heavenly-
Thank you too.
Thanks to all who have replied to me, it really helps just knowing I have friends such as you all on my side..
