I know we had been discussing the situation of Jesse Jackson, and how one conducts themselves after this type of incident. Well I got my People magazine today and found out some facts, but some of the quotes really upset me.
The article mentioned how Jesse would go over to the OW's house and talk with all the neighbors and shoot hoops with them, I guess he wasn't worried about anyone seeing him.
It went on to mention that after he said he was going to step back from the spotlight to "heal his family" he was back in the pulpit on Sunday, just three days after the story broke. When asked about this quick return, He said, "The ground is no place for a champion." WHAT? Is there no shame in this world anymore. He is a champion, of what cheating on his wife, bringing a child out of wedlock into this world? I couldn't believe it. Others went on to say that this would not be fatal for the Jackson family.
Where do these people live, in the papers. I hate this, like it is no big deal what he has done to his family. Just what we need to make all of us feel like we should just roll over and take these little mistakes as no problem.
By the way, the OW, gets $3000 a month, she received $35,000 for moving expenses. And bought a $365,000 home. Don't tell me that these OW are not benefiting from this.
It really bothers me that in this article and every one I have read, it mentions how his family is really struggling. But I guess his family's pain wasn't enough to keep him out of the public eye very long. The church congregation erupted in cheers when he came into the church. I don't know about you, but I would not want any
church congregation, cheering my husband after they found out that he cheated on me and had a child.
I am all about forgiveness, but I also believe that one should be humble in this situation. Talking about how he had been buoyed with calls from Clinton, Streidand, etc, it makes it seem like it isn't that bad. It just upsets me. Sorry I went on a rampage.
babstr.

all those things sickened me too babstr. if we were all rich, our husbands could be saints too. how on earth do they expect his family to feel? are they supposed to just move on like the rest of the world? i don't think so.
i was talking a little bit to my friend that knows today, and she acted as if it were no big problem. then i realized, for her it isn't, and then i thought, well, maybe it isn't as bad as i think. and i thought about the cross. and wished i had cut it out to tape to my forehead.
anyway, your problems with this jackson thing are the same as mine. i just don't get it. i guess when you are famous, and can pay lots of money, it is okay.
bye.
happy_girl

Babstr:

I just read your thread to my husband.
He pointed out to me that when it is politically convenient, the liberal media will spin the 'news' to elevate the perpetrator, however, if it is someone like Jimmy Swaggert, they'll demonize and mock him. Remember the field day they had with him?
The question I have is, where does a so-called 'man of God', preacher, get so much money? He doesn't have a real job, yet he can afford to buy a house for the OW in excess of a third of a million dollars and pay thousands in moving expenses...taxpayer dollars?
And isn't it typical that a bottom feeder like Clinton would call Jackson to commiserate and absolve Jackson's sins?
The world has become completely illogical. It is no wonder we here on the forum are battling the insanity in our lives. Somewhere, somehow, some of our husbands got the idea it was no big deal to pork a whore...Clinton's influence? Our Philanderer in Chief.
The media is making Jackson's indescretion OK now, too, ignoring the immeasurable pain that Mrs. Jackson is enduring. Expect to see even more and more newbies on this forum in the next year or two. I mean, hey! It's no big deal, ya know?
It's a disgrace and travesty, Kids. We live in a world that makes no sense, no longer can distinguish between right and wrong...there are no consequences for behavior...there are no heros anymore.
I'm glad I am moving into the forest with the woodland creatures who do not pervert the laws and live with logic.
Catnip =^^=

Catnip and Happy girl,
You are right this twisted. How can people not think that this is a big deal. This society is a sick one. I think it is because everyone who even thinks that this could happen to then, naturally thinks that they would walk. Why is this? Because this world and society does not believe in family, doesn't care to keep them together. So who cares if one gets a divorce. Everyone is impressed my the new President because his parents are still alive and still together. How odd that a family stays together and sticks together. When the idea of a family didn't matter, then why should anyone try.
I like what Dr Phil on Oprah says. If a couple is going to get divorced then they should be happy and relieved. Why? Because they have done everything in their power to save the marriage. He says you should turn over every rock, counsel till you can't breath. Because in the end nothing is more important than trying to salvage your marriage and family. So if you must part, their should be no sad voices, no angry words because you both gave it your all, and there was nothing else to do. You can be friends knowing it just couldn't work, and try to do the best for the children.
If we all did that maybe this world wouldn't be so screwed up. There would be some value in family and some value in marriage. And maybe just maybe women like the ows would rather kill over than be involved in married men, cause to do that would be the kiss of death in society.
babstr
