Hi all, I watched Oprah today, and oh how I wish all of our spouses could have seen this before this happened. It was on temptation. She had Gary Zukov on he is pretty clear. He was talking about everything from eating, drinking, to sexual temptation. He had these questions we should all ask before fulfilling a temptation, no matter what it is.
1) Do you get more power from it?
2) Will it make you more loving?
3) Will this make me more whole?
It is awfully hard to answer these questions if there are excuses in front of you. I don't know how many of you have seen this man but he is really on target. My sister saw a show about trying to find someone to make you happy, before being happy with yourself, it really helped.
He did say that temptation can be powerful. If you think out the temptation before full filling, it than you gain power. Everytime you can say no to the temptation, you gain the power. In that way temptation can teach you things. How to gain control of our lives. We are all tempted, but not all of us think about the results if we give in. I just thought it was interesting, and like I said a way we could all live.
babstr. Thanks Babster. Good stuff. My H could have definately taking a few lessons from this.
I am going to try to use this for myself in regards to OC and OW. When the temptation is there to complain about her and this situation, I will try to recall these words. Hopefully I can use this to make my marriage better and not give in to the "temptation" to lay blame on H and OW (regardless of how deserved it is). Maybe I can regain control over my life and give OW/OC less power in my life. Thanks!
Take care... Carolyn

Have they pulled that dirtball program Temptation Island off the air yet? I haven't heard much about it lately, but then I haven't been paying attention.
I am so grateful to Oprah for her quality high minded and uplifting programming. I get so sick of the bottom feeders.
A toast to Oprah!
Catnip =^^=

Nope, Temptation Island is still on the air, unfortunately. I haven't watched any of it, but they have stuff on Entertainment Tonight about it just about every night. Just those "updates" sicken me!!!
Tigger

Am I the only one who finds it the HEIGHT of hypocrisy, that not only is Rupert Murdoch, right-winger deluxe and darling of the Republican Party in the U.S. and also the owner of the station that broadcasts "Temptation Island", but also that Fox has refused to run advertising for the female contraceptive Encare?

Pretty good observation Dazed. Yes, I would call that a little hypocritical. Do these people ever look at themselves? They couldn't.
Carolyn

Dazed:
We should start our own country and make sure we have no lefts, no rights, just decent people who would never vandalize the White House, Airforce One or be childish enough to take the "w" off the computer keyboards or steal things that belong to the country and must stay in the White house.
We would have freedom of speech but our society would be so high minded we would not sell our soul for the big nasty dollar at he expense of decency or civility...or our children. Any sex on TV would come on after 11 PM and all sleazy inuendo would be unheard of in prime time where our children are constantly assaulted with filth and mind decay. The hypocrites like Murdoch, Clinton, and Jesse Jackson would be exiled to Temptation Island for the rest of their natural life...a kind of way station for the spiritually corrupt. Shame on Murdoch.
Catnip =^^=
